Yes, I think they both find each other an attractive future partner. It could be beneficial - though I suspect each side will cherry pick what they want - which is normal. Still, it is as you say a bold step forward by a guy with the experience to do the deal with the EU.

There might be delays though. The Canada - EU free trade agreement hasn't been signed and is still languishing in EU for some years. If they can't sort that out, then...
