In any case, it would not be surprising that Canada and China would have open channels of defense comms and would hold meetings from time to time - probably by Skype. You think the U.S. doesn't have any military-to-military comms with China??

I am from Canada, and what surprises me most after reading all the comments preceding mine is the lack of mention of the shared histories of Canada and the US. We fought and died together in several wars, developed a mutually beneficial trading relationship, and respected each others sovereignty. Until Trump arrived, things were just fine between Canada and the US, and we helped each other out and shared the longest undefended border in the world. Trump's contention that Canada has been enjoying a huge trade surplus is no longer true if you remove oil from the equation. The USA gets the oil very cheaply, refines it, and sells it for three or four times more money. Quel probleme? Although our relationship has sadly changed due to the USA's inability to follow the rule of law among other things, we still have friends and relatives in the US, and hope they share similar feelings about us. Trust me, we are most wary of China, but recognize the need to trade to sustain our economy. If the US won't play ball, we have no choice but to look elsewhere.

If I'm not mistaken, the whole thing started after Trump asked Canada to more closely monitor human trafficking and drug flows across the border. Canada refused and Trump levied tariffs... then the tit-for-tat began. You may not recall, but a generation ago Ross Perot said there would be a giant flushing sound if the US passed the NAFTA Agreement. It really did cripple US manufacturing, and I think Trump is trying to get back the lost industrial base.

Yes that's how it started, but was clearly a false flag - an excuse by Trump. First there was no human trafficking across the border - his officials would have known that. Second, the amount of fentanyl crossing the border was in single digits percent compared to your southern border - again your DEA would have know that too.

Drug seizures have increased in northern regions, Schneider noted, but not at the border with Canada. He said officers are finding drugs that were smuggled across the border with Mexico and transported north to the area.

Schneider also told lawmakers that there’s been a decline in the number of apprehensions of undocumented immigrants. Apprehensions are down around 22 per cent this fiscal year, he said, and they decreased 67 per cent in 2025 compared to 2024.
