All the comments drabble on about nothing and miss the entire point, the fact that locals cause just as often the same issues if not more, but that is never news. When a foreigner does it, it's right away news. It is not about wether 1 of the 2 parties is a saint.

Of course it cannot always be the falang's fault .But when I see the arrogance of many falangs here, how they are loud, sometimes very rude with others, comming to Asia with huge ego issues, brag all over as if they own the place...sorry, but I feel ashamed sometimes by my fellow falangs...

Don't think anyone was blaming farangs for the rape and murder of the young British couple on Koh Tao. Or the beating of an elderly tourist couple in Pattaya (by drunken Thai guys). There are plenty of other examples of Farangs attacked by Thais. Those two just off the top of me head.

The usual response is "there is more to this", suggesting it was the victims fault and the real reason was hidden.

I sometimes stay at a hotel in Bangkok that has a smoking area right next to the restaurant.

Unpleasant when having breakfast and a couple of smokers come in and fire up 5 feet away.

Yet that quick glance left to check for traffic that SHOULD NOT BE COMING FROM THE DIRECTION pulls your attention for the actual important traffic - which has the right of way - coming from the right at speed. In heavy, fast traffic, it's difficult and dangerous. Yet I've seen a ton of cases of cars and M/C traveling down the wrong way on highways and one-way roads, and someone out there will blame the farang for the inevitable accident cause by the person breaking the traffic law by driving the wrong way.
