Manchester To Bangkok Via Dubai December - Emirates

i usually come to thailand december(just b4 Christmas) and april(songkran)

now usually the prices with emirates are £750 in late december and around £550 april

atm im looking at £1000 for 21 december(been this price for 6 months)

is the price likely to drop,as im sure it usually drops if the flights are not full, and £1000 seems a bit steep.or have air prices suddenly gone up?

thanks

a thousand quid ? that is rediculous..

just done a search on dial a flight - Man to BKK, 21st Dec (assumed a 2 week stay) Best price was 530 quid inclusive.

shop around...

That must be for two people. I can't see emirates charging a grand for one person, unless you have good discount for business class. Then i would say you've got a bargain.

i can assure you its £1000 give or take 50.for 1 person economy class.iv used emirates to bangkok 3 times before at christmas and this is much higher than usual, even for the other airlines too, klm,ba etc

iv checked travelbag/ebookers,emirates website,airline-network,cheapflights,travel supermarket(finds best price from every website)!!!

cheapest iv seen is around 800 with el itad, but dont fancy that.

will check out dial a flight thanks,

but very much doubt i will get emirates under £1000 for emirates as around 10 websites all quoting the same prices as the emirates website

I had the same problem last Christmas. Flying on the 23rd from Glasgow, Emirates were the cheapest i could find and they wanted something like a grand. All i can say is keep checking everyday, the price came down to around £700 when i bought my ticket but that's still expensive. I was checking regularly and flight prices were changing all the time. Saying that, i didn't actually book it until 3 weeks before i was due to fly so that's probably why the price was varying so much.

Good Luck.

thanks james.

i think i will hold on for another month or 2 and hope they come down, cant see the flights selling out at tthe current price.sure i booked around october last year at £750.i have friend flying out on 2nd january - only costing them £500 with emirates!!!!

then again if they do drop their prices soon, surely that is punishing people who have booked early and paid £1000,i never understand that,as i was told once by emirates that when the flight gets fuller the prices for the seats left increase in price.

will just have to wait and see

must it be Emirates ?

been with 'em loads of times and they're no different/better than any other. If you're departing from Man, you have other options to BKK...

Turkish, Etihad, KLM, Quatar, Thai Airways (via LHR & BA) etc.. etc..

1000 pounds is not what i pay at that time of year.

the closer you get to xmas the more it costs..................

yes, I wouldn't expect the price to fall for xmas - it's pick season in thailand and europe/amecica.

try the smaller airlines flying to asia - some of them did not close yet the cheapest classes. The best is to call them directly, as the system might not indicate the cheapest flights.

cathay from LHR on 29.12 is £620 incl tax from westeasttravel

no it doesnt have to be with emirates,in fact i dont even like dubai airport (people ignorant etc)

i tryed etihad a few for around 950 for sat 22nd, but it means waiting in abu dhabi for over 7 hours in some cases for connecting flights and some even via heathrow, and with insurance more than emirates for a worse airline!!! nothing much around atm even for all the airlines price hikes...strange though that emirates has been £1000 all year long for this time of year.

will have to just pay it,if it doesnt come down, providing its still their in a month.

worst case scenerio - go 2nd - 21st jan for £500

I was going to suggest Mahan Air - an Iranian airline offering incredibly cheap fares to BKK from Man

But i've just wiki'd them and learnt that they were barred from operating in the UK in July over safety concerns.

under airports used it says, Manchester - 'temporarily halted'

did anyone on here ever use them?

Really good company in Hammersmith, yes I know its London, but they are called East west travel or west east travel,I can never remember, but they are Londons,as far as I know only spoecialist Thai flight company, there tel number is 08702201001.

you could also try airline network .com,they are usually pretty good.

The flight timetable has probably just been released for Christmas,so if you can get a deal now, grab it.

Plenty of good reports about Etihad (just check out this forum)

You wont get much cheaper than £524 at that time of year so why not travel on Xmas day?

Schedule is 2h25m wait in Abu Dhabi on way out and 1h15m on way back with only one stop in Abu Dhabi

These airlines offer a service to Manchester

Austrian Airlines - OS via Vienna

British Airways - BA via LHR

China Airlines - via AMS

Emirates - EK via Dubai

Etihad Airways - EY via Abu Dhabi

Finn Air - AY via Helsinki

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines - via AMS

Lufthansa German Airlines - via Frankfurt

Qatar Airways - QR via Doha

Singapore Airlines - SQ via Singapore

Swiss International Airlines - LX via Zurich

Turkish Airlines - TK via Istanbul

But none of them offer a cheap Business type class the same as EVA offer with the old Evergreen service.

Better you stick with EVA to AMS then to MAN

Give Etihad a try. It is as good as EK, if not better. The only difference is that you transfer in Abu Dhabi rather than in Dubai. EK flights to BKK are notoriously busy near Xmas/New Year and the pricing software reacts accordingly.

i used to work for Ebookers Far East Dept in London, and can guarantee you the prices do not drop closer to the departure date. Scheduled airlines DO NOT discount to fill their planes.

This used to be the practice among charter airlines, and probably still is. (eg, Airtours, thomsonfly to Spain etc)

you are travelling on prime dates, so unfortunately you can't be picky with price. if you don't take the seat, someone else surely will!

Etihad sounds good to me...

I have booked Emirates December. No problems, £520. Dont use Etihad for the sake of saving £50. Terrible service, old planes, tv never worked for 3 legs of the journey. Hostess just said, tough luck when I mentioned it! Also, wasnt interested in serving drinks after food had been served. Hope this helps.

That must have been more than 12 months ago, they have all new B777's At least on the LHR and BKK routes now.

Be a bit flexible, man. Do you really need to fly Emirates MAN to BKK? No other city pair, no other airline?

Next week, I'm flying Bkk to Frankfurt (Main) on Etihad for $700 = about GBP 350 return. I'm sure you can pick up a return flight to Frankfurt (Hahn) on Ryanair or such for GBP 50 or so. During the xmas season it's probably higher, but not by that much, and you can get some decent beer during your transit in Deutschland.

Be creative with your airline tickets, if you really care to save money!

new A320-200 on London/Manchester/Dublin --> Abu Dhabi and one year old 777 and over the past year never seen a non working IFE so not now what you are on about. Fast connections in AUH (hardly ever have time to get to the business lounge) is the biggest advantage of Etihad

Flown Etihad lots of times, had one problem with the tv screen and i got moved into business as mine was the only one not working on the entire flight, in the end i didn't even watch tv just got my head down in the comfy seats.

Great service compared to Emirates, and the connection into Abu Dhabi is quick both ways, they've even got free internet terminals installed now
