It prompted me to download his rendition of "La Donna E Mobile".

dominique355
Luciano Pavarotti, a child of Modena, the city which brought us "Aceto balsamico", "Nocino", Enzo Ferrari and of course "Papa Rotti" as my kids call him. Unforgotten his "All' alba vicero" (Turandot). Has nothing to do with Thailand, but even people in Thailand mourn one of the greatest tenors. jbowman1993
How can we make this Thailand related? Did he sing in Bangkok once? I live in Bangkok, and I played (trumpet) with him once. In 96 with a pick-up orchestra, that was performing for the "Three Tenors" concert. I never got within 100 feet of him, but the power and resonance of his voice is a memory I will carry with me forever.

pitrevie
A lousy actor but a superb voice certainly the best of my generation. Thankfully unlike many earlier tenors (where we only have poor recordings left) his recordings will live on and remind us of that fantastic voice. Tony Clifton
How can we make this Thailand related? Did he sing in Bangkok once? Pavarotti and elephants can be seen performing together here. Good enough? Ask someone to name a male opera singer: "Pavarotti!" Ask the same person to name a second opera singer... digitele
Besides his voice from what I've read over the years and what I've heard e.g people that worked or knew him loved him. A class act all the way. He used to always remark how spoiled he was. He never acted like it. I also have never heard or read that anybody had anything negative to say about him ever. Now that's a legacy ladies and gentlemen. I just read a good story about him on Slate.com. Check it out! R.I.P Luciano!

sukanyacondo
How can we make this Thailand related? Did he sing in Bangkok once? Hmm exactly millions of people die every day in awful circumstances they never get a mention anywhere. Perhaps if he'd ate less he would have lived longer? Spare a thought for all who die each day. As a football fan ...he MADE the 1990 World Cup finals so SPECIAL with his rendition of Nessendoorma. It's something that will live with me forever.
