Help! Refused At Border! Stuck In Penang.

HELP!

Does anyone know what I can do? I have left a few times for work in Qatar, and have the stamps/visas to prove it, but the officer said I have been here 90 out of 120 days, and I was just on my way out of Thailand for 4 months.

I just need to go back to my apartment and gather some things, and then I can leave.

I plan to go to the Embassy here in Penang, but I am not sure what to ask for, or what to do.

I thought if I left for work, that the 90 days started over. I have exit stamps proving I was out for 8 days in June and 8 days in August.

Please help?

Seems to me you should get a Tourist Visa from the Thai Consulate in Penang. Reckon that'd get you back into Thailand to pack up for your next trip out.

On the 30day visa free entry stamps you can only stay in Thailand for a total of 90 days in 6 months. Go to Penang Thai consulate and get a tourist visa which will give you upto 60 days in Thailand, The time spent on the tourist visa is not counted in the 90 days.

Hi can someone please elaborate on this. I take this to mean that if you get a tourist visa ie the 60day one from an embassy that this doesnt count towards the 90 days total that you are allowed in the 120 day period as per usual. is that correct.

this would then allow a potential of a couple of border runs on top of the 90 day stay allowing a full 120 days stay in thailand.

Is that correct?

The only stay that is limited is visa exempt entry (30 day stamps). That is limited to 90 days in any six month period. Visa entry of any type does not count against that 90 day limit.

Thats great to know, thank you.
