You're brave.. Any airline that loses it's licence to operate in the UK should give you a few hints as to its viability as an option. Remember Phuket Air ?

Check the age of its fleet..

I flew with mahan on DUS-Teheran-BKK and live to tell about it...

Machine took a longer break in teheran and we got to exit and go inside airport. All women had to put scarf on their heads. First everybody thought it was a joke but no sire... Airport old 60s style and almost deserted. Scary! We all got taken care in their first class lounge which was done in crushed red velvet.

Anyway, better skip on that adventure!!!

After reading that I can't imagine there is any point in discussing them, no one would seriously think of flying with them, can't imagine any savings would be worth it.

Totster :o

Don't forget that there is still a US embargo against Iran and their Boeings get no support or replacement parts from the manufacturer. Many parts are aquired used or through back channels. I never understand how someone so broke that they need to save $50 flying a dangerous airline with a ramshakle fleet can even contemplate going on a holiday on the other side of the world.

Yesterday (11/09/2007) they were added to the EU's list of banned airlines.

Is the OP still wanting to travel with this lot ?? :o

Doesn't exactly fill you with confidence does it :D

#2 LTU flies DAILY - not weekly - from Düsseldorf and Munich to Bangkok and Phuket, and it's inexpensive - from 318 euros one way. In October, they're also offering non-stop flights from Berlin. They're flying Airbus A330-200s wide-bodies on those routes, which average 6 years old. LTU has been recently taken over by Germany's 2nd-largest airline, Air Berlin. (I believe the takeover is still pending regulatory approval.)

better than I have thought

I thought about them for xmas 2005 ex Manchester, as they were VERY cheap (£400 cf ~650 as I'd left it late to book).

No Alcohol, and fully smoking. I Didn't bother....!

that might be the last airline still allowing smoking - I still see ashtrays in the armrests on some planes, but they were last used a very long time. Good for smokers.

on eaqually good bangladeshi airline, Biman, there is no alcohol and they brake the film fro time to time and broacast 10 minutes prayers from Mecca. Just in case the plane goes down.

We flew with them in december 2005 duss-bkk an back in jan 2006.

It was the worst airline I ever flew with, I will never fly with Mahan Air again.

On the way back the officials at Teheran Airport the oficials there confiscated my tax - free whisky.

Next week we will try LTU duss-bkk for € 600,-- non stop

If you want to fly TOO CHEAP try Mahan Air, otherwise take a another Airways company.

Without appearing to be rude, who in there right mind would want to fly via Iran to Thailand ????

Iran is as good as any other country for a layover from Europe to Thailand

well somebody flys with them cos there still in business..........but after phuket ,ive a feeling many budget airlines will fold ,people will think more about the safety and the governments of the world will look at the airlines safety precaution a lot closer ,and make it harder to trade........

It hasn't happened with previous budget airline crashes, why start now? This hardly makes news for more than a day outside the region.

So is Iraq , Afghanistan :o funny though, don't see too many people taking that option !

  • 6 months later...

I see alot of bullshits here

i had more than 7 flight with mahan , and it was ok

right , you can't have been whisky in your bag , but if you aren't a KING , it's ok and can save few bucks

iranian peoples are friendly and they like tourists , but if few of you are Nazy so choose another one country for your shitty fly

I am honest , mahan isn't great but it's ok
