Yes, I think the pix thing is just a question of permission, and I seem to recall signing something with Dr. Amorn allowing him to show my pix. I think the pix block out enough to conceal identity, eg for face lift the eyes are covered...at least I hope so!........

Sampam: is Dr. Suporn from Yanhee? Email please. I have to have a private consultation and see pics though before I decide to go ahead.

How is your friend doing? How are the scars?

hi sampam,

i have been contacting through email with Preecha and Somyos for their opinion on eyes and nose surgery.

but their price have too great different. Somyos cost almost 2000usd more expeensive then wat prechaa offer.

what do you think on this/.? why there is such great differences?

In between in two surgeon, Preecha n Somyos, which you more recommend me to go for surgery?\

Both of them seem promising of what they said.

Please advice....

forgot to mention adam have you also tried dr saran?

I think overall youll find it hard to find any ps who specialises in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery and ENT specialisation. I only know of somyos in BKK whose a PS specialising in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery and ENT. If anybody knows of any other surgeons let me know. repeatedly from my experience somyos nose job seems to be right on the high end of the expense scale probably because of his specialities.

Sampam Thanks for the email!

I guess this means more consults! Have not heard of Dr. Saran.

I might be having my sliding genioplasty soon. Tomorrow I might confirm the date of surgery! Worried about the results as there is an unpredictable outcome factor during healing..

First off, are you sure they are proposing to do the exact same procedure in the same way? Difference in proposed procedure or technique could account for the cost difference and may also make a difference in likely outcome. So get clear on that point first.

Secondly, what is the nature of the nose work you're having? Is it a standard nose job or more complicated? (In other words, is it worth perhaps paying more to have a surgeon with specific expertise in ENT reconstruction?)

Update:

Just had his nose job reviewed by another surgeon in another country and based on the original photos and problems and post operative results and work done was told that it was an excellent job and very highly skilled.

SAMPAM - who at the Bumrungrad do you think is the most qualified and experienced surgeon who performs surgery on deviated septums and doing repairs to previous rhinoplasties?

A friend of mine who wants to travel to Thailand has had 3 previous rhinoplasties (not in Thailand) have resulted in a crooked nose (deviated septum) which leans more to the right and quite noticable, leaving her with one nostril that she can't breathe out of, and a tip that is hooked. She's been told that she will need a specialist in Otolaryngology as they would be more suited to what she requires. She is adamant about going to the Bumrungrad but if there are any other specialised surgeons elsewhere, I'll pass on the information onto her.

Any advice and thoughts would be appreciated :o

I would only recommend 1 surgeon for such a complicated case and he isnt at bumrungrad so youll need to convince your friend to suck it up and go to the best surgeon rather than a fancy hospital.

Somyos Kunachak is exactly what shes looking for. Hes head of Otolaryngology at major hospital and professor. Also US board certified in facial plastic surgery. Hes who you want for such a complicated case.

At bumrungrad you could try Amorn Poomee but id be very surprised if he accepts then theres also Witoon at bumrungrad too. If it was my choice Id definately go somyos for such a complicated case.

That was quick - I'll have her look at this thread and maybe she'll have a change of heart. I think she was really impressed with the Bumrungrad when she came over for my daughters birth and feels its the safest place to have this repair surgery as she assumes the best doctors are there :o

Thanks and I'll let you know what happens with her :D

Because Amorn poomee is highly selective of his patients and is selective in the difficulty of his cases. Just like I stated he couldnt/wouldnt do anything about the other case and I know of some others who he wouldnt do. Reason he is so well known is for a few reasons he does do good work but also because he doesnt raise your expectations and hence post surgery youd be like wow, and hes US trained and certified, and because hes selective in who he chooses to operate on the results generally are good. But he just like other surgeons do stuff up and have and so I also highly doubt hed take on a case thats had 3 previous rhinoplasties and all those problems when hes got a reputation to protect.

But if anyone can give me any advice or suggest someone that would be great. Oh and if anyone has had surgery with Dr Pramote can you let me know how it went?

Anybody got any before and after pics of bad nose jobs ? websit etc ok.

My wife wants to get her nose done and for starters, is dam_n cute as it is, nice little button nose and considering how cute it is, I really would hate to see something go wrong and mess up something that does not need fixin.

She has no idea about things that can go wrong, only chat and gossip about all the good jobs. I want to show her what can go wrong and try to let her see that it is not worth it.

:o

hi i just recently had a septoplasty at yoskarn clinic. I had a few surgery before hand and i always felt dissapointed so i didnt have much hope or anything. but what do i got to lose?

i had a car accident on 2004 May 15th , and kinda broke my nose and the doctors in NZ cannot fix it and i felt like i wasnt going to have the old me back.lost abit of confidence and didnt really want to go out and socialise that much.. even though it didnt bother me , i felt like i still wanted my old nose back.

i had met with Dr Greecha , Dr Prommee, Dr Preecha and other several doctors. Which didnt seem like they even wanted to either do the surgery . When i went to Yoskarn Clinic , i was abit skeptic at first and did alot of internet searching and ask for after results. even though i saw the before and after pictures.. i was still not sure.. but when i look at myself , i didnt want to look like that ..it just didnt feel like me. so i did end up doing the surgery.. and i had weird dreams cos of the dose they gave me.

the surgery took 3-4 hours .. i woke up around 7.45pm and was escorted by a nurse to my room.

The room itself was very pleasant to stay in. nice comfy and affordable 2000baht per night .. inc breakfast. the nurse was very nice and Dr Somyos visited me 5 times to check up and i felt his bedside manners was reasonably good.

again i didnt want to get high hopes, when they took the plaster off and bandages.. i looked at myself..and i felt soo great inside ..it feels like a relief and it my nose looks better than i can imagine.

i looked at it everytime i see a mirror and it makes me feel happy.

*i advise to everyone to look carefully what you want. and make sure they understand. even if you sit down again and repeat yourself..if not bring photos of how you look before.

its good to ask alot of question and how they going to operate on you .. when you know all these procedures you feel kinda more at ease and comfortable . in the end of the day it your money.

and you dont want to go to a cheap surgeon that cant do it right . just cos the price looks great, you dont want to go wrong.

trust me i was abit skeptic with Dr Somyos but talking to him several times and seeing the after photos.

I took a chance..and i agree with SAMPAM that Dr Somyos is a great surgeon! i glad i had a good experience with him and the nose looks great =) :D

Hey Milo,

Glad yours is a success! BTW, the room prices from the net is 2700 baht (70 USD). I was wondering how you got the 2000 baht deal. I'd like to stay there too if I have my surgery.

How id you communicate to the doctor what you wanted? Did you show pictures of noses you liked and disliked?

How is the swelling and the scars? are you presentable to the public?

and do you know the technical details of your surgery? I need a lot of tip work I think.

Thanks so much and happy healing!

Great to hear that you have a success surgery.

This sound weird, i thought Dr somyos only do surgery in the evening around 6pm? due to the fact that he has class in university. I have made apointment with him and the time always is at 6pm. He visited you for 5 times? Is he has that much time?

MILO, please advice on this.

Milo, would you mind to share how much was ur surgery cost? This can be our reference when we visit the doctor.

Milo, please reply

He does teach at Uni but hes a professor. Have you seen professors? They dont start early. And I remember talking to him he usually only sleeps 6hrs -5hrs a night. And he starts his uni at around 10am or something like that. His clinic visitations are from 6pm onwards but usually complicated surgeries he starts late after all the minor procedures like botox, aquamid etc

And Im sure Milo stayed there for a little while which is why the Doctor maybe could see him that much. When I went for surgery I only stayed OVERNIGHT. So he saw me in the morning and another doctor later. Then he saw me when it was time to take the plaster and stitches off but thats all probably because i didnt stay at that hotel and went travelling etc.

Hi Sampam,

what kind of surgery did you have done by Dr. Somyos? I will see him for a consult on my lower eye lid complications.

Oh shakun. You still havent sorted that out yet? We talked remember?

I have had a few procedures either me myself or partner done. 3rd revision rhinoplasty, botox, aquamid, upper bleph, chin implant and otoplasty included.

Hey sampam,

I finally had my consultation with Dr. Somyos. I do feel comfortable with him especially from the good reviews here.

Are you happy with your upper bleph (i know this is a hard procedure to get it right).

Also, did you get a button or an extended chin implant? Did it add any verticle length? Are you happy with it? When did things return to normal? I am afraid of a lisp.

Did you have general anesthesia? If you had local was it with sedation? (I was told by the nurse that they do local without sedation- ouch!)

Thanks for your help sampam! I think I am finally going to take the plunge...but want to get a few things done at the same time...planning for it hopefully early next year!

What about your nose job?

Upper bleph really isnt that hard. Open your eyes keep them relaxed and open in normal position. mark where your folds are. Close them and mark again. Now you have the excess area that needs to be removed. Its actually not hard. And relatively quick. If they wont sedate you DEMAND it. most likely youll be given valium or haldol or domicum.

If your sedated youll be fine. The pain you WILL feel but only as the needle goes in and the local anesthesia is injected. After that nothing.

If you get chin and upper bleph done then im guessing theyll sedate you but still awake for upper bleph to make sure its done right and theyll tell you open close open close etc. Then chin implant too.

Chin implant to chin implant is different. Whats right for you would not be for me. It all depends on what you need. I didnt need vertical height very much just slightly more protusion.

If you get your nose job too then MAYBE youd get general. But your eyes would be done awake under sedation then put to sleep.

Nose as your know can take upto 1year or so to give you the final shape. Fast results within 3months.

Chin implant to settle down etc may take upto 6 months do fast results within weeks to a month.

I am getting my nose done and it will be under general.

To be honest I don't need a upper bleph (I am still young for that) but I was curious about it. Especially lower bleph actually cause I have some hollow eyes (always had them).

My questions where to you so I can get things from the patients perspective.

Are you happy with your chin implant and in your case what kind of anesthesia did they use?

Wouldnt the numbing injections be painful lets say if you are doing a chin implant? I bet there will be a few shots and the canula will be bigger and goes deeper...
