Aircoolers

Featured Replies

Any recommendations for aircoolers, (the ones with fans) ? Where to buy them in Chiang Mai ?

Hi BPpree,

Do you mean Fans or A.C. units?

I did edit my first post after reading your question, so yes indeed : the ones with fans.

You can find a good selection in Carreforre supermarket, Central carries them as well. Most all the electrical shops carry a good supply, so you should be able to get yourself sorted out fairly quickly.

Cheers

Don't most air coolers have fans? :o

If you're just after the type where you put cool water or ice inside, I wouldn't bother as they're pretty crap. They're ok if you have em loaded with ice and about 2 nanometres away from your leg, but they're also pretty good at elevating the humidity, plus after a while it becomes a pain to fill them up and empty them. Best off getting yourself a really good fan for about 1k (and throwing a bucket of ice in front of it when it gets really hot) as opposed to a dodgy cooler for around 3k. Better still, you could plum for a portable aircon unit for around 17k. Central have them. If you get the latter, don't forget to pop the exhaust out the window :D

Buy REAL air-con. Anything else is a waste of time in Thailand.

I went years without it, but I LOVE it now! :o
