Visa Long Stay

Featured Replies

My daughter (from Europe) wishes to come and stay with me for a while (about 8 month)

She is 18, has given up her studies (hope it is a temporary situation), and does not intend to work here. She'd rather see her stay as a kind of break.

What kind of visa can she ask for ? And what could be her maximum length of stay ?

If she decides to study here, what are the options ?

Thanks all

It would be really useful to know what nationality she is, and in which country she currently resides.

There are several options available, but 'friendly' consulates are needed for the better ones :o

If she's from a western Europe country she can apply for a double entry tourist visa (if she's lucky she may try for a triple entry). Each entry will allow her a 2 month stay in Thailand which is extendable by 30days in country.

So for 1 trip out and in at a border she will get 6 months. If it's only a double she gets she can then enter twice on 30day visa free entry stamps at any border or if she gets a triple she'll make the 8 months with just one extra trip.

She can study on a tourist visa if she wishes. If she enrols and pays for an accredited course

she can apply for a Non Imm ED visa which will give her 90days and depending on the college she studies at may be able to extend that in country in 90day stints provided she attends the course.
