The Hutch wireless service looks very good but they are asking 12 900 baht for the wireless card...

I know they are way cheaper back home, can I use one I bought in North America or do I have to use their equipement?

Anybody has experience with the Hutch plan at 999 baht per month?

Maybe you should check it out a little further. A good friend of mine had the Hutch in Jomtien. I used it whenever I went down there. The service was 999 baht a month unlimited. It is better than GPRS but not a lot better. He hated it and always said it was worse than dial up. Too bad you weren't around. He sold his cheap when he moved up country.

also there are ZERO support or any guarantee from Hutch !

you have to buy it to give it a try!

this mean 12900 for the hardware plus 12000 baht for 1 year contract (999/month).

all the hutch customer services are terrible in service, and does not give even a hint if coverage there or not.

also the coverage checker at the phone is just marketing .. no clear info at all ...

if its not working you have GPRS (maybe edge) .. but its not a reason at all to void the contract ...

so your trial cost is almost 25000 baht ..

if you lucky .. the investment is fine ...

if not -> your problem

Actually I found one on Ebay for 99 cents, I can also buy a brand new one for the equivalent of 3000 baht, Hutch are just a total ripp off...

Hi pataya8,

I just purchased the AirCard on Thursday after over 4 years of frustration with lousy dial-up. Last month my telephone bill for using dial-up at 3 baht an hour was 1065 plus 330 for internet card. Today I'm getting log on speed at 921kbs compared to between 33kbs and 37kbs with dial-up. Also a mp3 file of between 16 & 20MB, which I download 5 times each week, took between 2 & 2.5hrs with dial-up, with the AirCard less than 5mins. Also no broadband in my area (Nongprue) which I was told by TT&T numerous times that it was coming soon. Now they have no idea when and if it will ever be in my area.
