Water Pump

Featured Replies

Hi,

Just moved into a new house which has got a newly-fitted water pump outside. Trouble is, it doesn't seem to do much when turned on. You hear the occasional noise from it when the water is running, but doesn't seem to make any difference to the water pressure at all.

Is the thing doing what it's meant to be doing? I've never seen one of these before and I could p*ss faster than my shower...

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers,

Do you have a holding tank it is pumping from (I hope)? The pumps used are not usually very powerful (or the cheap plastic pipe might burst). Make sure any valves are fully on and shower does not have a blocked filter (electric type usually have screen filter on input).

Most hardware stores can arrange a plumber to check it out for you at little cost if you can not figure what is wrong. But you are not likely to get hotel pressure in a house here.

Okay, thanks for the info. Pressure wise, I was expecting a little more than a trickle. Got an engineer coming around to have a look at it.

If the pump is running at full steam, is there anything else I can do to increase the water pressure, or will I have to live with it?

it migh need to be primed.. or the pressure it is set at is too low..

your expert coming around should be able to sort it out for you
