I was a good tipper, and unless they screwed up, 15-20% Working in restaurants & bartending made you appreciate a decent tip. When working in restaturant 10-15%, depending on venue, was a normal tip, and staff, us, happy with. Bartending, a bit different, as more time to be personal, and always was a good night, and not at a fancy club. Waiters & waitresses don't have that luxury, if a good venue. Hard to believe they are almost demanding 25%, especially with some of the prices I've seen on menus, at restaurants I used to dine at. So the restaurant want you to pay their salaries, as if they don't recieve tips enough to bring up the salary to Fed. minimum wage, it falls on the restaurant to meet. Which is silly low to beging with. It's embarrassing that any restaurant would pay their staff minimum wage to begin with. And tipping wasn't a Yank thing, it was learned from Euro traveler Yanks witnesses back in the day, and imported to the USA.
