October 20, 200718 yr We have just added a custom Qcache database optimizer to the forum software. It makes the forum database (mysql query cache) more effective. The software can now cache approx 40-45% of the most common database requests. How it works: Member #1 ask : Give me X topic First time the query is served from database, and cached Member #2 ask: Give me same X topic Mysql is serving second query from cache And the database doesn't need to do any hard work, as it already have the results cached. If member #3 post a new message in X topic, the cache for X is lost, as he alters the X topic (Mysql is clever enough to see if something has changed in the database, and drops the cache). We hope this will improve the speed of browsing the forum. If you notice any improvement, or encounter any problems, please let us know. Cheers

October 21, 200718 yr Much quicker page rendering now isn't the speed of the page rendering determined by the browsers rendering engine ? that is, client side not server side ?
October 21, 200718 yr Much quicker page rendering now isn't the speed of the page rendering determined by the browsers rendering engine ? that is, client side not server side ? Some of it, yes, but if the server is slow fetching the pages even the browsers tweaked for maximum speed are left waiting.
October 21, 200718 yr Hi, I would say that this forum was already pretty fast I think that most of times that this site is slow to display, it's not because of a slow server, but because advertisements are heavy and slow Many times we have to wait for Google Adsens to be loaded before the part of the page below it can be display... 4 big banners, many in flash, on 1 page : Begin to be too much. Hopefully, there is "Block advertisements from ..." in FireFox The best solution for me is to use the "lo-fi" version of this forum : http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/lofiversion/ When my connection is slow, I read the forum using the "lo-fi" forum and only use the "full" version for reply.
