Visa Companies

Why would you use them ?

So long as you can read and write, just do it yourself ... for free (and a fee)

Naka.

Here here...paying these silly "visa companies" to fill out a few papers for you is like paying someone to look at your watch and tell you what time it is :o

I think they think these visa agents know some magic alchemy to turn their bargirl girlfriends into "former hotel receptionists"...like turning a sow's ear into a silk purse :D

Totally agree-they do nothing you can't do yourself and based on friends who have used them they cock most things up.Makes me laugh how they all advertise stating they are friends of immigration or prefered agents that Immigration work closely with.....UTTER <deleted>.

I got a visa for my wife to visit UK and only took 3 days from first visit to issueing visa.Where's the hard ship in that ??

Yes I too was quoted 10 times the real price, when I said that sounds expensive he just lifted his hand up and pointed to the door saying theres the door mate ! very un professional.

If you don't mind me asking; what company was this?

........................

A company in Jumptien not far away from a well known statue. we might have just cought the guy in a bad mood who knows ? but the price was still well over the top what ever mood he was in.

I went into the same office a while back to ask a general question.

Guy not interested to help, presumably as no money in it and was somewhat discourteous.

I asked why prior to a recent change (the extension period on Non Imm O had been reduced from 1 month to 1 week, from memory). so, prior to this, why did they never advise customers of this as at least another short term option. It was also not mentioned in their literature or the flow chart they print in newspapers. No, they left customers ignorant that on the decision of immigration and payment a further month extension could have likely been obtained (now it is indeed only a week) rather than jumping straight to the more lucrative next period 3 month visa run and payments.

It was a lack of information that was relevant to some people' s circumstances and of real potential benefit too.

We got a settlement visa independently and you do not need to use them or pay their fees.

Was it Key Visa by any chance? If you ever consider using an immigration adviser; you should really use the 'fully qualified' companies who are registered with the OISC. However, they are difficult - if not impossible - to find in Thailand.

It's not just a matter of 'filling forms in' as some posters' have mentioned. You need to be aware of the immigration rules policies and the bureaucratic mess they operate in. The agents in Thailand are not qualified to 'advise' you on these issues - hence the 'hiccups' they sometimes cause.

Ther are many who claim to be visa specialist or x Lawers i know of two in Pattaya and both of them are just normal guys duping and praying on peoples imotions, theres one on soi six think hes Mr smith and thers also one called easy visa.

they make a small fortune just cos people are nieve, do it yourself fellas it aint that hard as someone said if you can read and write you can do it.

one of my mates used one of theese companies it cost him almost a grand and got nowhere

in the end he used a Thai national for a fraction of the cost and got his Visa.

some of these companies claim to have a contact in the Emassy it is a load of Bullox they have no sway at all,

they just know the way things are done and whatever they say they cannot garantee you a visa.

dont get sucked in guys.

From the above posts it sounds like all are refering to getting a visa to the UK. Is it that complicated that one would even consider using a visa service? I recently completed the on-line application for getting my wife a visa to the USA (which she got) and I dont know what one of those visa service companies could have done for mfe that ould have made it simplier. Maybe the UK visa procedures are a bit more involved?

Spot on.

You could always ues one in the U.K, with todays cheap calls and faxes and Scanning tech, it is not wildly out of the question.

All cases are not straight forward, just take a look through the visa forum to see some results, although I accept it can be done yourself, sometimes a little hand holding through a sticky situation puts the mind at rest and can be invaluable.

i think it's the same with all these visa agencies (as well as real estate agencies). they really don't do anything that you can't do on your own...with the help of a qualified thai notary/lawyer for real estate. it just seems that many people just think it's so complicated to do these rather simple transactions just because they are in a foreign country. these agencies have no special knowledge that you can't get by reading the expat publications or asking someone who has lived here awhile. most of them seem to me to be just typical hucksters just trying to scam a few bucks from unsuspecting newbie arrivals.

seems to me that whereever foreigners settle, there is this coterie of these flotsom that follow that try to "advise" them on their stay or sell them houses or condos in their new country...whether it's the south of france, spain, and not thailand. they are like a plague of locusts :o

Yes, same thing happened to me. he seemed condescending.I was asking some advice. Also, as soon as a falang couple came in,he quickly had no interest in helping me,and basically pulled a Thai restaurant move on me(forget him,NEW people here!)

It was the guy near the statue in Jomtien. I will not seek <deleted> from him in future
