I'm trying to find the TOT DNS server numbers so that I can set up port forwarding in uTorrent. The numbers I currently have for a GoldCyber account are:

203.113.15.99

203.113.15.100

These numbers were from TOT's website in November last year. However, I think these numbers have changed recently.

Does anyone know the numbers, please? Can't find any info on the TOT website.

Thanks.

An answer to my own question:

The primary DNS is: 203.113.127.199

The secondary DNS is: 203.113.24.199

I don't understand why you need the DNS server IP for port forwarding? Am I missing something?

PS I am using OpenDNS too, with great results!

Check this website and it will explain the reasons:

With a router installed, do I have to configure the router as well as the computer, or just the router alone?

For port forwarding to work correctly, you need to configure both the computer's internet connection properties AND the router.

PortForward.com are extremely helpful. Go there and first select your router, and then select the programme that you want port forwarding to work on. Follwoing that you will get on-screen instructions as to how to set up your computer and router.

If your router is not included, or the programme that you require port forwarding to work on is not included, you can request help in the forum (you will have to register to use the forum).

Good luck!

i tried but found no way to configure my TOT modem/router.

Your not alone. I bought, downloaded and installed PortForward and wanted to

configure my Surecom EP-4704 SX router that TOT brought along.

Well, that router, even after updating, has not appeared on the list and I placed

a message in the PortForward Forum. We shall see....

Do I have to add the OpenDNS numbers first in the router itself in order to be recognised by PortForward?

As you can see, there is no Surecom router to be found on the list as Surecom.pdfattached

If you guys can wait until tomorrow, I will put together detailed instructions, including screenshots, of how to do this with the Surecom ADSL modem. It's quite simple.

Unfortunately I do not have time to do it now.

A better solutions in to use OpenDNS:

What is the make and model number of your router?

When I received my modem from TOT, I got a Surecom EP-4704SX-A \A2 (E)

If your modem is the same, I can probably help you. If not, maybe I can still help.

thanks, i'd appreciate your help very much Apex. my TOT router is "Thomson ST546 V6"

just took a look at portforward.com and it's all about, torrents, games, P2P, etc. i'm not downloading any films, don't play any games but download once in a while music without any problems.

therefore my question "what advantages will i have using OpenDNS?"

Take a look again, and at the top of the page click on 'Guides' - from there it will tell you most of what you want to know about setting up modems for various reasons (including games).

OpenDNS is faster than any Thai ISP's DNS, it blocks scam sites, and updates faster than typical ISP DNS servers do.

looks like it is an advantage for me. thanks!

These are the steps to set up the Surecom EP-4704SX-A router and port forwarding for uTorrent.

A. Set up the router

1. In your browser address box, type this: 'http://10.0.0.2' (without the quotes), and press 'Enter' on the keyboard.

You will need to enter your router's login name and password provided by TOT (which are normally 'admin' and 'epicrouter' respectively).

You are now looking at the various set up pages for the router in your browser.

2. In the left hand pane, scroll down until you see 'Reset to Factory Defaults'. Click on this link, and then in the right hand pane, click the 'Submit' button.

Doing this will obviate any changes that have been made in the past and enable us to start afresh.

3. In the left hand pane under the heading 'Configuration', click on 'WAN', and then make changes as indicated in pink in the image below:

config-wan.png

4. In the left hand pane under the heading 'Configuration', click on 'LAN', and then make changes as indicated in pink in the image below:

config-lan.png

5. In the left hand pane under the heading 'Configuration', click on 'Virtual Server'. On the right hand page, we will designate a port number for uTorrent to connect to. (Remember the port number that you choose for use later when you set up uTorrent.) So, first choose a port number (not exceeding 65535) and then type the number in the 'Public Port' and 'Private Port' boxes. Leave 'TCP' as selected. Type '10.0.0.20' (without the quotes) in the 'Host IP Address' box, and then click on 'Add This Setting'. Repeat these steps using the same port number but changing 'Port Type' to 'UDP. The result should look something like this (your port number may be different):

config-virtualserver.png

6. In the left had pane, under the heading 'Configuration', click on 'DNS'. In the right hand pane, in the 'Preferred DNS Server' box, type your primary DNS server address. In the 'Alternate DNS Server' box, type your secondary DNS server address. (In the image below, you will see the current TOT DNS server addresses.)

config-dns.png

7. In the left hand pane under the heading 'Admin Privilege', click on 'Misc Configuration'. In the right hand pane, under the heading 'HTTP server access', make changes as show in the image below:

admin-miscconfig.png

8. In the left hand pane under the heading 'Configuration', click on 'Save Settings'. In the right hand pane, click on the 'Submit' button to save settings and reboot the router.

The router settings are now complete.

B. Set up TCP/IP Properties (Note: the instructions and images are for Windows Vista)

9. Press Start > Control Panel > Network and Sharing Centre:

NetworkandSharingCentre.png

10. Click on 'Manage Network Connections':

ManageNetworkConnections.png

11. Double click on 'Local Area Connection', and then in the window that pops up, choose 'Properties':

LocalAreaConnectionStatus.png

In the next window that pops up, choose 'Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv$' and then click the 'Properties' button:

LocalAreaConnectionProperties.png

In the next window that pops up, complete the information as in the image below, making sure that the DNS server addresses are the same as in the router (step 5 above):

TCP-IPv4Properties.png

Click OK > OK > Close.

The TCP/IP Properties settings are now complete.

C. Set up uTorrent

12. Open uTorrent. On the menu bar, choose Options > Preferences. In the 'Preferences' window, choose 'Connection' in the left hand pane, and then type in the port number that you chose in step 5 above:

uTorrent-Preferences-Connection.png

Then, click 'OK' to close the window.

13. On the menu bar, choose Options > Speed Guide. Click on the button 'Test if port is forwarded properly' aNd your default browser will open:

uTorrent-SpeedGuide.png

The resulting page in the browser window should look like this:

TorrentPortChecker.png

Excellent and thorough explanation of the setup :o

Only one thing I'd change and that is where it says "Use the following DNS server address" I put the router's address 192.168.0.1

Yes, that is possible. However, the router's address is different for my router. I would have to use 10.0.0.02.

Since posting the instructions, I have changed my DNS servers to Open DNS, as the servers are, apparently, more reliable than Thai IPS's DNS servers (see recommendation above).

You could try this: ST546

Not sure if this is what you want. Get back to me if it isn't. Which application do you want to set up port forwarding for?

Apex2000, you did a great job and many thanks indeed.

My head is fuming from all these numbers. Nevertheless, I managed to set up my TOT/Surecom Router in every aspect as you explained in detail.

As I use OpenDNS, I provided my router and its DNS configuration with the OpenDNS numbers and that seems to work.

Enclosed is the file OpenDNS_Configuration.pdf with 3 Internet Protocols, my IPConfig stats and my System Log.

All 3 Internet Protocols work, but here I am not quite clear. Is it not enough, when I use the protocol as in page 1, but forget such protocols as in page 2 and 3 totally, since they would actually override only my Router Specification?

I am a little bit confused here, because I studied your recent discussion in the Port Forwarding Forum.

Just to chip in here

I have a TOT - X7822r+ ADSL Router that I managed to configure with the help of Port Forwarding to work with BitTorrent.

To me it all seems to be working fine I get the little green thing to indicate an open port and when I when I do a port open check it gives the OK.

Thing is after reading here I am wondering if I have got it completely right. A bit like reading a medical book and realizing you are not well. :o

My set up is like this:-

post-35075-1193909755_thumb.jpg

Note I only have preferred DNS server and nothing in the alternate box – Does this matter?

Where do the 203.113.127.199 and 203.113.24.199 numbers mentioned here come from? Would it help to use these?

I have tried Open DNS but could not see any improvement so stopped using it.

Thanks

I would say that if you have the green light on in uTorrent, then what you have done is perfect.
