Friends are getting married in her home town of Sa Kaew and need to book a hotel for the likes of us Bangkokians. Can anybody recommend a hotel or resort (and a weblink to it if possible)? Cheers.

NOT the Kavi (Kavee) hotel, that's the old old one and a bit of a dump.

I forget the name of the relatively new one, less than 10 years old. Β The wife's out right now but I'll get it in the morning. Β It's located on the east end of town about 3-4 buildings past the hospital. Β Sort of doubt that they have a www site.

We stayed there for one night 3-4 years ago, it was OK.

I was just out there this past Sunday but didn't stop to get the tel #, will ask one of the wife's relatives to do so, they're about 15 km east of Sakeo, Tha Gasem area.

Got it, it's the Chantra Hotel in Sakeo.

Did a google and came up with: Β http://www.sakaeo.go.th/SakaeoEnglish/Dine.htm

"Chantra Hotel, 16/2 Suwansorn Rd., Tel: 0-3724-1711-3 (Thai & European)"

The phone #s aren't working right now, you can try again later.

I don't know the answer to my question 'best hotel' but we stayed in the 'River Resort & Spa' smack in the middle of town and it was really fine - even had premier league on several of the channels. Sa Kaew is probably the smallest 'named' town i've ever stayed in in Thailand - really has nothing apart from a 7/11 and a makro - but the hotel was like a little boutique hotel, good value for the money.

So why not cut out the "boutique hotel" (what is this apart from pretentiousness on a small budget?) and just do it at their family's house?

Much more fun, wait until the food hits the barbeque and the drink starts flowing. Ahhh "Bangkokian", be scared, be really scared :D:o

Wow, you are reading my comments and seem to be wanting to believe something else! The wedding WAS in the village (quite a nice one up towards Pang Sida national park - apologies if that is spelt wrong), however my family and i, and some other thai/farlang couples stayed the night in the hotel in Sa Kaew.
