Importing A Grand Piano From China

Featured Replies

Hi all!

What is there to consider when importing something from China like a grand piano? The plan is to send it to Phuket from Beijing in February. I have heard some scenarios when the import office(whatever they are called) just refuses to let go of it until some bribe is made...

However.., The chinese company promises to door to door service... I really doubt they are aware to the "thai style" way of doing things...

Any good suggestions on this matter..??

Thanks..

Find an International Shipping Agent handle the shipment who has also an office in Thailand. Better find a big comp. You might contact your Embassy/Consulate for adresses of such a company.

Don't let the seller take care of it; once paid they might not care anymore...

Beijing is a long way; can't you get a grand piano in Guangdong (GuangZhou or Shenzhen ) ?.....unless you bought/own it already of course.

Edit !

Better try to find also a reliable 'ART' shipper inside Thailand. A Grand Piano is not something you wish to have handled by a local trucker company.... :o

ART shippers and loaders are trained people who know HOW to handle delicate shipments.

Good luck.

Thanks LaoPo...

It Is going to be shipped out of Guangzhou for sure.. I have done business with the company before.. I think they are going to do good work. Just worried that they maybe never shipped anything into Phuket before...

It is not an old piano ... Its new..

I agree with your advices though..

Thanks...
