Hi,

although I had a non-o multi visa and stated the visa number on the arrival card, the woman at immigration

only gave me a 30 day stamp. After a long flight and waiting in a huge queue, I was to tired to check it immediately.

As I am still in BKK, I thought about going to Immigration in SuanPlu. Will they change the stamp (for free) ?

Or do I have to do a visa run within 30 days anyway? Is the burmese border open?

Thanks...

Marco.

I had something similar happen. I had a 60 day TV in my passport, but they stamped me in at the border for 30 days. I didn't even realize it and I was actually on overstay. I went to immigration, they saw the problem, made a couple calls and made a few changes in my passport - no problem at all, no charge, and they actually gave me a 30 day extension for free.

This personally happened to me. It was an extension stamp at Suan Phlu and I didn't spot it. Another immigration officer spotted it when I went to go and get a re-entry permit weeks later. They corrected their mistake quickly and with no charge although I did have to go back to the section of immigration that made the error.

My double-entry TR visa was mistakenly written over as 'Used' by Thai immigration in Nong Kai last April. Similarly, I never noticed till I was in Pattaya. I presented the passport at Jomtien Immigration and they said that they would have to send to Nong Kai for them to correct the error. I was leaving within 4 days and didn't need any delays so they said I would have to explain it at Suvarnabhum on re-entry as Jomtien office could do nothing. When I returned, I spent an extra 3-4 minutes at the Immigration desk as the guy looked long and hard at the visa and the stamps, asking me where I got the visa (Hosuton) before allowing me in and stamping the visa as 'Used'. I always check the passport as soon as it's handed back to me, as I now have a 1-year multi-entry Business visa now and don't need that cancelled by mistake.

db1tau, when you first walk through the door at Suan Phlu, if you make a

quick left you will enter the waiting room in 5m. then turn right 90 degrees

and you will see a sign over one of the counters "stamp correction". :o

Thanks, I was there today, counter 519 stamp correction. It only took about 10 minutes altogether, I had to fill out a form and provide copies of everything (the copy shop is just across the road) and then returned to the counter.

The office was full of people, however no waiting on counter 519 and it was for free too. Everything is fine now.
