Yes. Call the Thai consulate where you plan to apply for the visa what documents you have to submit, or check the consulate’s website. Requirements can vary form one consulate to another.

First I suggest you ask the company to confirm that they are able to obtain a Work Permit for you.

Without the WP you cannot work legally.

Yes thanks, just one more question, do i need to obtian a category B visa before i can get a work permit???

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: There are other visas you can have which will allow you to get a work permit, but if your only reason for being in Thailand is business and employment, the non-immigrant B is the one you want and the only one you're likely to get.

Help me too please!!

My new employer thought gave me all the paper work he thought I needed to get a Non-B so that I could then apply for a Work Permit. I booked a flight to Penang and when I spoke to one of the men who takes care of the visa's for people he said be sure and bring my Work Permit. I told him I did not have one yet as I had to have the Non-B first. He then said to bring a WP3 form (receipt) which I realized i don't have either! It appears that you have to have at least put in an application for a work permit then you get a receipt and can show that to the Penang embassy and then get a non-b.

Now, since i don't have a Work Permit or the WP3 receipt, what is the best type of visa I can ask for? A 2 month tourist visa? Try for a non-b anyway and if they say no so "ok then I want a tourist visa which they then might say no to that as they will think I will be working."

Help please!!! Need advice!!!!!
