"Very helpful.Thanks."

Dude, Razz, you gotta give us some help b4 we can help you help yourself. Know what I mean? You're not new, you can do better than the op you made. "Comments?" is some kind of rorschach test. You gotta let us know why you ask? And for whom you ask? And when ? YOu wanna stay there ? Recommend for friends ? A weekend escape ? Honeymoon ? Take rorschach tests while you stay there ?

Or do you mean price ? Quality of rooms ? Closeness to city ?

Yeah, done typing. You do some work first. Then the community helps you find out the specifics of what you wanna know.

Ok...I've been a bit lazy... :D

I'm going to CM in the new Year about the end of Jan/ beginning of Feb.

I will be meeting the gf's Dad fort he first time and will stay a couple of day's near Fang, maybe at the Amari Angkhang.

We'll then be staying a few day's (maybe about 4) near or in the City as I've never been to Chiang Mai before.

I want a romantic place to stay without breaking the bank (think Chedi or Four Seasons :D _)

Something about the 4000 a night mark.

Thanks in advance :o

Better? :D

To get back on topic :o

If there're any helpful people out there who have knowledge of the following hotels:

Krisdadoi, Fern Paradise, Manathai, Lotus, Pornping, Sira.

It would be much appreciated.

I stayed at the Pornping hotel my only night I was ever in Chiang Mai. The lobby is very nice. The staff was extremely friend. I stayed in a "deluxe" room. The room was pretty basic. No frills and a bit dated. However, it was extremely clean and very quiet. I am not sure of the cost. The included breakfast was decent. The picture of the deluxe room on their website is a very accurate representation of how I remember the room.

I did not get a chance to check out the rest of the facilities, but I do believe the infamous Bubbles Disco is located somewhere in this building. However, I don't recall seeing alot of people or being disturbed by loud music.

Hope this helps,

-Patrick

For that budget try, Lanna Mantra or Puripunn. In the city maybe Amata Lanna.

Manathai is OK but a bit cramped, nice atmosphere though.

I drove past Sira which is in a strange location on the north side of the moat. It is a refurbished building but can't think what it used to be. In that location it looks more like an upmarket guesthouse.

Krisda Doi and Fern OK if you have transport.

cm sally

The gf might hire a car or her cousin could be driving us.

The Manathai, Sira and Fern get good reviews on Tripadvisor. I'll have a look at Lanna Mantra and Puripunn. The Sira's owners get full marks for acting as unofficial guides to CM.

Thanks again. :o

P.S. Any suggestion about what are the "must" thing's to see and do?
