There is not a consulate in Vientiane. You get your Visa from the Embassy.

That is it and the only place where you will get a TV in Vientiane. And believe me the Tuk-Tuk drivers know their way if you tell them where you want to go.

There is'nt any Thai Consulate in Vientiane Laos. However, I think you may be referring to the Consulate Section of the Thai Embassy. Is that right?

In that case, just go to the front gate of the Thai Embassy and wait there, it's not a big embassy at all and if you arrive within 5 minutes before or after the Embassy begins accepting applications for Tourist Visas, you should notice a long line of other people (around 50 people) doing exactly the same thing as you. You'll have no problem at all.

There is a Guest House where I stayed for only 500 Baht per night (incl. air con, private bathroom, the essentials), the address is 013 Pangkham Road, Sisaket Village, Chanthabury District, VIENTIANE CAPITAL, Laos. (Their phone is 856-21-264-114). This place is'nt more than 10 minutes by tuk-tuk to the embassy.

I took a Thai friend with me, so that's how it was very easy for me. However, be careful not be ripped off because alot of the people there will (including the established restaurants, and stores).
