Me too! I need a new tooth and would much rather hear from someone who has had it done than rely on google! Likewise, posters may be able to warn others of any nightmare hospitals they have experienced.

Couple of months back, a friend of mine had all on 6 immediate implants (full mouth) for about 400k Baht at Bangkok Smile in sukhumvit 21.

Mostly rate depends on how many implants you need. Check with them.

I don't know the guy, but he is a friend of a friend. Apparently he had connections with someone at the Khon Kaen medical school. He got a number of implants for just the cost of the hardware. Being a patient for the students to practice on didn't seem to bother him. Apparently everything worked out fine. He is happy and has had no problems.

Dental schools at places like Chulalongkorn do offer implants. However, there's a waiting list and you can never be sure when your treatment will start. Fees are less than private dentists, but at least in the case of implants, not dramatically so.

I consider the expense of implants unwarranted. That money could change some people's lives. Why does everything have to be so damned perfect? It's not going to kill you. Have the tooth out, the next teeth up will all move down until there's no gap.

I had a dental implant at Thantakit Dental Center, (branch in All Seasons Place - Tel: 0-2685 3444*) by Dr Thara Sirikvai. Cost was THB80,000. I checked out Thonglor Dental Clinic too. Dr Thara brought this procedure to Thailand. Apart from better pricing than Thonglor DC, I can highly recommend him.

In addition to affecting your bite, other consequences can be loss of bone and gum disease that can lead to further loss of teeth. Some people suffer neck and muscular pain because of the destabilization of their teeth affects their jaw line. So there really are sound medical reasons for having implants. II'm also looking at this thread because I'm looking for peoples' experiences in Bangkok because I, too, need an implant and am not sure whether to go to a commercial clinic or govt. clinic.

I had one implant carried out 2 years ago by Silom Dental Building near Chongnonsi BTS skytrain station. Total cost came to about 65K and required about 5 visits over about 3 months (incl extraction).

The cost is not a total package but you pay-as-you-go depending on the exact procedures carried out and I think my final payments came in slightly lower than their original price estimate.

I was quite satisfied with their work and have no complaints. All the decisions seemed to have been made with my best interests in mind (e.g timing of procedures).

I suspect that the large number of specialists available at this clinic is possible because the dentists serve other clinics as well and circulate around working in many locations.

And all the advice I had was to either bridge or implant rather than leave a gap if (financially) possible.

got an implant this week done by my German dentist(in Germany !) . For the implant itself he wanted only 300 Euro/15000 Bht. ! He is specialized for this ( has done hundreds before). He got the material very cheap (big package).

300 Bht is only the implant, you have to pay extra for the crown. (beside : He has to renew one side totally :-(( he made one implant for free ! But the whole shit cost me 1500 Euro, 2500 pays the health insurance )

Just for your information. What can we learn: Thailand is not that cheap !

Let me guess who suggested all that. Could it have been.......dentists?

(ps: once again evolution does the trick.......BTW I think only the teeth above the lost one move.....and mine seem to be solid as a rock. BTW after being told by 2 Thai dentists that I really must hurry to get a backtooth cavity sorted out, one even suggested extraction, I went to see a dentist friend of mine in England. He said John this is what we now call an arrested cavity. Just leave it. Doing anything is more harm then good. I did. Six years later he turns out right it's exactly the same.)

Yes Thailand is not cheap,i am having an implant done in Poland including the crown for approx 50000 Baht. I have had medical treatment at the top Bangkok hospitals and over the last 3 to 4 years the prices have skyrocketed !

You can find reasonable rates if you look around. I was quoted Baht 30-40K. The two day experience came out to Baht 32,000 and some change with two days in hospital. It took me over a month of really going out and looking for the right place and price.

Suggest you do the same.

Yeah, I've got a false tooth fitted (denture type, not an implant) as long as you keep wearing a false tooth there won't be any 'slippage' and the space will be even for whenever you decide to get an implant.

Yeah Up in Chiang Mai the cheapest (and I've been all over town looking) is 75,000 baht. In the UK it's about 100,000 baht so Polands the way forward pricewise.

I used the same clinic last month; had Dr. Sanchai (the receptionist writes it as Sunchai) work on me. He has done my more serious dental work for something like ten years, previously working at a different clinic. I believe he moved to Thonglor only very recently and may at present also still be working at Silom Dental Building.
