Onward Ticket Requirements

Featured Replies

I have not left Thailand for about 5 years having repeated 1 year extensions to my visa as I am married to a Thai. In January I have to visit the UK and will get a re-entry permit for my return. Clearly I want to buy a return ticket here so will arrive back without an onward ticket. Does anyone know if, when I come back, I will have a problem getting on the flight in London or entering Thailand as I won't have an onward ticket out of Thailand. Once back I probably won't leave again for a few years so any onward ticket will expire so I don't feel like buying one just to satisfy a regulation that is irrelevant to my case.

Any help much appreciated.

Steve

You have one year extensions of stay and do not need a ticket out of Thailand. Should not be any problem.

I faced the same question last year on a round trip BKK-FRA-BKK with Emirates.

It took me a few minutes to explain to the airline check-in officer in Frankfurt (for my return trip to BKK) that a re-entry permit is equivalent to a visa but it was eventually accepted.

As far as immigration at BKK airport is concerned - no problem at all if you have a re-entry permit.
