A bit off topic, but is 23 December a public holliday for the election. ?

Embassies and consulates may be closed.

Hey Chris, the 1st thing your friend needs to be aware of is that if attempting to obtain a 30-day

tourist visa extension at the Jomtien office, you will be required to show proof of onward travel.

Organized visa tour buses to Laos are being told their clients can only receive two tourist visas

per year. But yet this unwritten rule doesn't seem to apply to individual travellers? If you are

stringing together visa-exempt entries and tourist visas, you shouldn't need more than two/year.

I suppose this is an attempt to maintain some control on the tour-bus/wholesale visa situation. :o

P.S. Lite beer is right, I remember DEC 24th recently being declared a holiday for some reason.

thanks for that, i tottally agree with you but you know the score theres some really bad advice flying around, now one more quicky there telling him about that onward ticket is 1000 bhat, now i only paid about 200 bhat at ban leam, do you know if you can get a cheaper ticket at jontiem?

cheers again chris

Chris, the easiest thing to do would be find an immigration office where they aren't requesting

the extra documents when you are making an extension. I don't know about the 1,000 baht

thing, maybe some of those local travel offices have come up with deal for providing tickets.

The 200 baht deal at ban laem still exists but of course only available at ban laem, and while

the local immigration guys may accept it, not sure about the Jomtien immigration office.

You have Suan Phlu and the immigration post at Novotel near Suvarnabhumi. Closer still,

there is an office at Sriracha and Chonburi city as well as Mapthaput. Choose your poison. :o
