Extending A One Year Visa By 10-30 Days

Featured Replies

I have a one year multiple entry due to my job which I have finished.

My visa expires in early January but I would like to delay leaving Thailand by at least 10 days, 30 would be even better.

What kind of an extension can I expect to get if I go to the immigration office?

I would like to book a ticket now so any information would be helpful.

I hesitate to go to the immigration office now.

Because I have finished working I'm afraid they may decide that my visa should expire now.

Thank you.

Assuming each entry gets you 90 days, if your visa expires end of Jan probably the easiest way is to make a visa run just before the expiry date. That should let you stay until end of April.

My one year ends in early January so I am on my last three months.

I want to leave the country at the end of Feb. I don't mind making a visa run but I would like to wait until mid to late Jan. which is why I wonder about a short extension of 10-30 days.

You say you have a Multi Entry which means you can go out early January before it expires and get another 90 days.

I dont think immigration in Bangkok will extend a Non Imm Visa.

I have a multiple re-entry Non Imm. B.

You think I cannot get an extension of any kind in Bangkok?

If I can just extend it 10 or more days then I could leave for a visa run and leave the country 30 days later.

My one year visa ends in early January. It will be finished. My multiple re-entry permit expires with the visa. Therefore I cannot do a visa run and get 90 days. I will simply get a 30 or 60 day tourist visa if I do a visa run.

You will get 90 days as long as you re-enter before the expiry date. The stamp in your passport will be for 90 days - it does not matter if your visa expires before this. I have the same visa and use it for 15 months every year.

If you go to immigration they will grant you only a 7 day extension, for 1900 bht (probably the smae cost as a border run).

Actually I just returned from a trip overseas and my expiration date did not change. I was not given a new stamp indicating 90 days.

I only have a stamp showing my entry date and my original expiration date in January was not altered.

Actually you do not seem to have a visa at all. You appear to be on an extension of stay for work which ended 7 days after you finished work and you are now on overstay (if that time has expired). Do you also have a valid visa issued by a Consulate? If not you will not receive any extension of stay and should immediately exit the country and obtain a tourist visa for the next two months that you want to stay here.

You must have a stamp with an 'Admitted Until' date either stamped or written on it. This will be in your passport, not the TM6 (departure card). The stamp on the TM6 rarely has the 'admitted until' date.
