Strange Case With Visa

Featured Replies

my husband went to the Immigration office in Phuket Town and tried to get Non-B visa, but the officer stamp "Visiting wife' instead and allowed to work in the company( we didn't know they did that, they only said he couldn't get Non-B but they can give him 3 month extension instead),

and then we open a new company and going to close down the first one, so we need to change the visa( without saying the name of company but just say the expiring date so he can work in new company.

Can you do that at the airport or not,and how much does it cost and what paper do i need to bring

( he's got new company added into his work permit already

1. To get a non-B visa, your husband must go to a Thai embassy or consulate.

2. You do not say on what visa your husband last entered Thailand. You do not mention your nationality. If you are Thai, the stamp from immigration saying “visiting wife” probably is an extension of stay. Are you sure the extension is for 90 days? Usually, it is only for 60 days.

3. If you are Thai and have an average monthly family income of minimum 40,000 Baht, your husband does not need a non-B visa. He can apply for an extension of stay to live with Thai wife.

4. The immigration office cannot give your husband a stamp that allows him to work in a company. For this, he must get a work permit from the labour department.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

1. Why his friend got it from Phuket Town

2. It's 90 days what he got not 60 days

3.We showed 47K income per month, then what happen? what type of visa will he get instead of Non-B, he's married with me and work here. Does he still have to go to the border every 90 days?

4.he's got work permit already, but i don't know why the imm.officer wrote where he can work in passport, will it be a problem?

PS: can we go to Patong office to sort this out because we always have problems going to the one in town or what about at the airport

PS: no one ever said we can get Non-B at that embassy

Thanks for your reply

What did he pay immigration for these 3 months? An extension of stay is 1,900 baht. A change of visa to non immigrant O would be 2,000 baht. A TM.7 form would have been used for extension of stay. A TM.86 form for a change of visa.

If he received a change to non immigrant O visa and stay of 90 days he can return with you with less than 30 days remaining and at that time use the marriage/income/tax payments to obtain a one year extension of stay.

He can work with the non immigrant O visa.
