Four nearby 7-Eleven shops in Bangkok robbed in 2 hours

BANGKOK: -- Four seven shops, which are located not far from one another, were robbed each by a motorcyclist pretending to buy a packet of cigarette early Friday, police said.

Police said the four shops might be robbed by the same gang because the robbers used similar method, wore similar clothes and apparently used a plastic toy gun.

The first robbery took place at 2 am at the shop inside PTT petrol station at the mouth of Soi Suphapong on Srinakharin Road in Praves district.

A man wearing black jacket with white strips, jeans trousers, and slippers with a black helmet came into the shop to buy a packet of cigarette.

When the cashier opened the money changer's drawer, he leaned over to see the drawer and forced the cashier to give him the cash inside. He fled the scene on a Yamaha motorcycle with Bt8,825 in cash.

While police were inspecting the robbery scene, the second robber took place at 3:30 am at the shop on Soi Wachiratham Sathit 72 in Praves.

The man wore black long-sleep t-shirt and jeans trouser with sleepers but this time he wore light blue helmet. He fled the scene with Bt1,392 on a motorcycle.

He pretended to buy a packet of cigarette and forced the cashier to give him cash.

The third robbery took place at 4:10 am at the 7-Eleven shop on the mouth of Soi Wat Bor Thanon On-nuj in Phra Khanong district.

The man wore blue jacket with white strips with a black jacket inside and wore a black helmet.

He pretended to buy cigarettes and forced the cashier to give him cash of Bt700.

He fled the scene of a Yamaha motorcycle.

But while he was fleeing, a man saw the heist and drove his pick-up after him. Anyway, the robber managed to escape by going inside Soi Onnuj 46.

The fourth robber took place at 4:16 am but it failed because the cashier happened to touch the gun and found out that it was a fake.

Apart from giving him the money, the cashier managed to get the cigarette packet back after the robber demanded his Bt50 banknote back.

Alleged 7-Eleven robber arrested

Police have arrested a man for allegedly robbing four 7-Eleven shops in Bangkok late last month, a source said.

The man was arrested at his rented room at the Leo Mansion on Soi Onnuj 44 near the four shops.

The police source would not give further details, saying the Metropolitan Police Bureau would hold a press conference to announce the details Saturday.
