The title says it all really. Bought a car from a friend of a friend, there is still 6 months left on the finance which I am paying, but the car is still in his name.

The company said that if he gets a residency cert from immi that is valid for 6 months then they can do all the paperwork now so that he can't claim the car is his (ie the book will still be in his name).

He is on a married visa that is only 1 month old. If he gets a residency cert will it be valid for eleven months, or just 2 (ie until his next check-in).

Thanks for any advice.
