padma
any centers for meditation or suggestions for any good vegetarian restaurants. I'd probably be pushing it to ask if there is a good spiritual bookstore like the Bodhi Tree in LA. I know I can do things at home but it would be great to meet some like minded people here in BKK

morning glory
There's a wonderful vegetarian restaurant near Khao San Road called May Kaidees. It's the best! Here's a website giving you some info about it, as well as other veggie restaurants: http://www.happycow.net/asia/thailand/bangkok/ As for bookstores, you can find a pretty good selection of spiritual books in Kinokonyu (spl?) bookstore in the Emporium mall, Prom Phong BTS station. Places to meditate in Thailand? Try this site (be sure you go to the very bottom of the screen where you can select a meditation site): http://www.dhammathai.org/e/meditation/page1.php Wat Mahatat near the Grand Palace also offers daily meditation instruction. They have Dhamma talks every 2nd and 4th Saturday from 3pm - 5pm. Here is the website for the World Felloship of Buddhism (near the Emporuium Mall)which has dhamma talks and meditation instruction on the 1st sunday of the month: http://www.wfb-hq.org/main.html I can't think of anything else at the moment--hope this is helpful! Oh--wait--yes one more site--Goenka retreat information--there are two centers in Thailand: http://www.dhamma.org/ Okay--have fun looking at all the info! sendbaht
Padma, love going to the Bodhi Tree. Walk in get some tea and spend some peaceful time. Do not spend much time in Bkk, but like home most Thai restaurants serve a veggie dish or two. Have fun.
sbk
Wat Suan Mokh in Chaiya in Surat Thani offers meditation courses in Vipassana on the first of every month. I think they run for ten days. They have a website: Vipassana meditation check out the archives page for info.
sabaijai
Nearest bookshop to the Bodhi Tree is probably Shaman Books, on Khao San Rd in Bangkok. Although it's a 'general' bookshop carrying a little - or make that a lot - of everything, it does have more books on religious/spirituality/new age/occult than anywhere else in Thailand I know of.
