Adsl In Pattaya

Featured Replies

What are the options for ADSL in Pattaya with a TOT phone line?

Any information or experiences would be useful.

Thanks,

G

I have a TT&T line and use have been using the Hi-Net service for more than a month now it's quite reliable.

There where a few outages at first but it seems to have settled down now , the speed is unpredictable normally about 500 Kbps

(not the 2000 Kbps they advertise) I think the highest I have had so far is about 1300 Kbps anyway compared to dailup its like I died and went to heaven. :o

Thanks for the information, but I already have a TOT line, and don't want to change to TT&T.

Is there no option for TOT, or is nobody on this board using it?

If you have a TOT line, try to check out if your number is ADSL capable.

Use following link to check your number, if the resulting screen shows ADSL on a green background you just might get lucky (mine showed up green, but at the TOT office they insist there is no ADSL coverage in my area!)

http://www.tot.co.th/ADSL/index.php

Then try to get their internet promotion, comparable to Hinet, as they advertise on following link:

http://www.tot.co.th/en/news/totnews_detail.php?news_id=211

If it is any good or not nobody knows, it seems up until now nobody got through the TOT bureaucracy and succesfully apply for this package. In the Pattaya office certainly nobody has a clue!

If you want affordable ADSL from a reputable ISP you'll have to change to a TT&T line, since all the cheaper packages from the ISP's are only available if you have TT&T (such as Ji-net's compax 256/128 at 1550Baht/month).

Otherwise you're stuck with for example Loxinfo's 256/128 unlimited at 9000 Baht/month (+500 Baht/month for TOT so they'll allow ADSL traffic on you're phoneline!)

Good Luck...

OK - thanks for that - maybe I do need to change to a TT&T line.

is that ji-net available in the bangkok area, specifically pathum thani? true tells me the service isn't available for me, same with tot. i tried the ji-net site but its mostly in thai.

I guess ji-net's compax should be available in BKK.

I had to apply at the TT&T office, but since TT&T doesn't have phonelines in BKK I'm not sure how or where to apply.

The following link is to the English page of the compax service

http://www.ji-net.com/zone/DSL-Compax_E.asp

At the pricing you can clearly see it should be available for both True and TOT customers.

They might just mean there is no adsl coverage in your area, then you would not be able to get adsl from any ISP...

meadish_sweetball, no such thing as true in Pattaya :o
