Public warned over solar panel conmen

NAKHON RATCHASIMA: -- Opportunists are seizing on the recent oil price rises to deceive members of the public with fraudulent solar panel installation schemes, the head of the Nakhon Ratchasima provincial electricity generating board warned today.

As oil prices soar, the Provincial Electricity Generating Authority is offering the free installation of solar panels to households currently not served by the national electricity grid.

The electricity board is footing the Bt25,000 per household bill for the installation and household wiring costs.

However, electricity chief Mr. Tossaporn Chitphisut warned that conmen were asking householders to pay Bt300 so that they could liaise with the electricity board for quicker installation.

Noting that the scam was illegal, Mr. Tossaporn urged householders coming across such conmen to report them immediately.

the scam might well be illegal, but paying 300 baht probably will ensure your solar panels are installed quicker

:o

why doesn't he just compare the application dates to the installation dates to work out who has paid cash.
