Mae Sai Visa Fee Warning

Featured Replies

Hi ,

Just to save others being ripped. I just came back from my VISA run to Mae Sai.

When I handed over the $10 fee at immigration the lady scrutinized every note until she found a flloor .... one of the notes had a number written on it in biro.

It was refused and I had to pay 500 baht instead of $10 !

Make sure your notes are pristine.

Hope it helps someone.

Are you sure the problem was with the notes ?!? When i went over with a friend a week ago we handed over 20 one dollar bills for 2 of us.. the officer barely glanced on them ..maybe she 'liked' you :o

use some house hold bleach to remove ink from bank notes

Some time ago it was the same for the Burma Crossing... 5 US$ or 300 ThB!

ahh well.......live and let live!

I had the same problem the last time I went , approx 1 month ago .

My dollar bill had a red ink on the bottom which they refused also .

The warning is correct .

Yeah, i got that last month too. He said 'very sorry our bank will not accept this'. Yeah right, anyway i wasn't going to argue with him, i saw the results on tv of the last time some one had a problem with that particular junta :o:D
