I have a NON 'O' and this is my last entry. What I want to know is-:

Do I need to go to the border, or can I go to the immigration to extend it ?

This is the Fourth and Final entry.

Thanks

A non immigrant visa is normally single or multi entry - not four entry. A multi entry can be used for an unlimited number of entries and if used the day before expiration you receive a new 90 day permitted to stay stamp (so almost 15 months of use if used for continuous stay). You must exit the country to obtain a new 90 day permitted to stay stamp.

I have always exitied in the past, just fed up with going to the Border, so I thought I may be able to go to the immigration office......Can I ?

No you can not do it at an immigration office.

Well he could go to immigration if he qualifies for an extension.. Tho he doesnt give any details to work that out.

Are you over 50 (with 800k in a Thai bank) ??

Or married to a Thai national ??

Or supporting a Thai child (over 50) ??

Or have a farang child here on an ED visa ??

Any or all of these give grounds for visa extensions.. But you dont give us any data.

Is there a formula for getting the longest stay out of a "2" Entry Non Imm Visa?

I arrived recently on the 10th December and as I requested, the officer just gave me a 30 day Entry Stamp.

I requested that he ignore the 2 Entry Non Imm in my passport, as I was only staying until the 5th January, then departing for 5 days to Singapore.

On return from Singapore on the 10th January I intend to start the use of the 2 Entry Non Imm.

I do intend to extend this into retirement, but was wondering if there was any advantage to be had in waiting until the full use of the 2 Entry Visa almost runs out.

Or get into the Retirement Extension ASAP?

Are you sure you have a two entry non immigrant visa? What category is it? Normally two entry is only used for tourist visas.

Retirement extension of stay should be applied for during the last 30 days of any 90 day entry. The only advantage of doing it early would be to avoid a new entry trip.

Yes, 2 Entry Non Imm "0" obtained in Melbourne AUS a few weeks back.

Told them I was investigating retirement. I did want multiple entry, but they said their policy for multi entry "0" was for family visit reasons only and that the maximum entry's for retirement purposes was "2"

No problem, I thought quite fair.

You have answered my question anyway re best time to convert, thanks.

(P.S. I'll get you the category number next time I look at passport at hotel)

In answer to your question re Non Imm Visa.

The words NON IMMIGRANT VISA appear at top of visa.

Within visa CATEGORY "0"

Good for TWO Journey/s

At bottom included within stamp "EXTENSION OF STAY NOT PERMITTED"

(Visa issued on 23 NOV 2007 / Must be utilised before 23 MAY 2008)

You got the exception rather than the normal issue - which I suspected after you explained they did not want to issue the multi for retirement options study. No need to use both unless you want to do so - but if you want to take a trip this would be the time to do it was you would not need a re-entry permit to return. After you go to yearly extensions they will be required for travel.
