I have two guests staying at my place, both Indian nationals. They both have Tourist visa's issued at the Thai embassy in India.

Both have been only given 30 days when entering at the airport, the visa sticker is stamped used, and the entry stamp is marked TR at the visa class section.

I was of the impression that a tourist visa allows 60 days stay, regardless of nationality!

Guess they'll have to go to immigration (unfortunately at the office in the republic of Pattaya) to get this rectified, as they are stying till the 15th of January (the entry stamp says arrived on the 8th of December and allowed till the 6th of January...

Actually very nice people, they were here assisting the Singaporean Polo team for the SEA games!

They would have normally have left earlier, but decided to stay a bit longer for another Polo tournament being held close by my place.

Am I correct in thinking that they can get their stay extended by another 30 days (and possibly another 30 days, as I think the total allowed stay on a tourist visa, including extensions, is 90 days?

For all countries, other than those allowed 30 day visa exempt entry, a tourist visa entry is 30 days now. India has been a country not allowed to extend a tourist visa entry so would likely still receive the normal 7 days to leave stamp. It appears they will have to leave before the 15th.

As Lopburi3 states, the actual wording on immigration.go.th is (below).

Trying to get those extensions at the Jomtien office may present even

more problems as of last report they were requiring proof of onward

travel. I should say, proof within the confines of the extension. :o

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Foreigners applying for the first time for an extension of stay are given

a 30 day extension from the date of expiry of the original admission,

except for citizens of Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Iran, Bangladesh,

Nepal, Nigeria, Togo, and Uganda, whose application for extension of

stay will not be approved and the applicants are ordered to leave the

kingdom within seven days.
