Eastender
I overheard a guy talking about what a shit-hole Cambodia was. Having spent (only) a month there myself and loving it I asked where he'd been. 'Poipet for a for a visa run' he replied............Hmmmmm I wanted to post this as I guess so many people must do the visa run and come back with a similar opinion of the country. But would you judge any country by a stopover in it's airport? If you want to make the effort to go further and experience Cambodia it's well worth it. Altough spending a long time in Thailand, I have many fond memories of Cambodia and would love the chance to go back. The Asian friendiness goes without saying, but with a suffering that Thailand or similar countries has never seen, which perhaps creates in some ways a more welcoming people - ready to share their experiences? Don't let Poipet put you off. Enough said.
