ไอ้เฒ่าหัวงู

Featured Replies

I recently heard the expression ไอ้เฒ่าหัวงู . It seems clear that this is a very derogative expression. But what exactly does it mean? Which type of person is called ไอ้เฒ่าหัวงู?

I would appreciate any help very much.

Lexitron: เฒ่าหัวงู [N] dirty old man

Class. คน

Syn. คนแก่เจ้าเล่ห์, เฒ่าเจ้าเล่ห์, เสือผู้หญิง

Def. คนแก่หรือคนมีอายุมากที่มีเล่ห์เหลี่ยมหรือกลอุบายหลอกเด็กผู้หญิงในทางกามารมณ์.

[kon gàe rĕu kon mee aa-yóo mâak têe mee lây-lìam rĕu gon òo-baai lòk dèk pôo yĭng nai taang gaa-maa-rom]

"An old man or a person of advanced age who is cunning and crafty and who uses these tricks to sexually deceive young women."

Sample:ชายแก่คนนั้นเป็นพวกเฒ่าหัวงู

"That old guy is one of those dirty old men."

I hope the one from whom you heard this phrase was referring to someone other than your self.

Thank you, David

Well, I heard the expression when I overheard a conversation between two Thai ladies at a table beside mine in a German restaurant. I wanted to be fair and told them that I can speak a little Thai. They became rather silent...
