กม.

I see กม. listed in ไทย street addresses. I also notice it is followed by numbers, for example กม.2

Edit: turns out กม. in ไทย street addesses is an abbreviation for กิโลเมตร. (not กฎหมาย)

Do they post หลัก กม. along roads so you can find addresses? Is this only in large cities? What about rural areas? Please feel free to add to this discussion.

For addresses in the countryside alongside highways, it can refer to the kilometer stones which are the white numbered thingies you see along highways. Sometimes turnoffs don't have proper names and then the closest kilometer stone will be used as a reference.

Are the หลัก กม. numbered from south to north and from west to east?

If I have a street address of ถ.บางนา-ตราด กม.4.5

I would guess that it means 4 1/2 kilometers east of starting point of ถนนบางนา-ตราด

Does anyone know if I am right about this?
