Suka Fi

Greetings,

My wife and I recently visited Thailand. Among many other things, we were impressed at the Thai pop music. We bought some, and brought it home. It seems that "suka fi" (soo'kah fi, long i) is a very popular phrase in some of the songs. Does anybody know what that means? It sure seems important to the musicians! I attached a couple of files so you can hear what I'm talking about.

sôo kâo bpai literally fight come in

My guess is that it means "let's go" or "come on" in a fighting context.

Withers, are you sure it's เข้า and not เขา? สู้เขาไป sûu khao+ pai - fight him/her/them ...

One often hears สู้เขา สู้เขา when Thais cheer.

You could be right though, and I have misheard it all along.

Thanks! I believe you're right. In one of the attached samples, he can be heard saying "Let's go" right before sôo kâo bpai. Maybe not technically "fighting," but in a tough angry sort of rock tone.
