Adult Circumcision. Why Does My Husband Have To Have The Snip Snip?

Phimosis is just the medical term for a foreskin that is too tight and yes, circumcision is necessary.

Heed the others'advice re getting an experienced doctor (a urologist who has done many adult circumcisions) and, obviously, avoid the 1500 Baht bargain price (somehow I doubt there's much in the way of anesthesia inclkuded in that price....).

With an experienced doctor and as long as he follows carefully the instructions for after care, all will be fine.

He is a urologist, in a proper clinic. Didnt ask why it was 1500 or about anesthetic, good question though thanks Sheyrl. Will check on Monday. His cousin who married a Muslim women and had to convert had it done for 30 baht on a Muslim island at a public hospital. Said that was the normal going rate in Muslim areas. Perhaps it is not expensive because we live in a a relatively small city and he is Thai? I will try to get him to have a second opinion.

30 Baht is appropriate for (what my jewish friends call) a "zizi cut" when it's done with a rusty knife and once in a the "cuttee" bleeds to death :o

my policy: no one cuts anything off my pecker. each and every millimeter is precious! ask my wife if you don't believe me.

I did, he's never heard of it before. He's Buddhist tho.

No penis guy in our neighborhood, I am afraid. :o

Anyway, hope you find a good urologist for your hubby. If he's anything like mine, getting to the doctor to deal with it will not be easy.

My husband is Buddhist as well as all his mates who have had these crazy things done, and the village is all Buddhist too, including penis guy. I have also seen his brother and some friends carry around wooden penises in their motorbike for good luck!! wow It sounds so much stranger when you write this stuff down and share it with others!

yes getting him to deal with a doctor is like pulling teeth! So trying to get him get a second opinion is not going over very well.

Okay so through more inquiry about penis guy, I found out that penis guys are usually guys who have been in jail, some emerge as tattoo artists some as penis artists. Only Buddhists can have their member newly designed because you need foreskin to be able to do so.

Also just found out that my husband's full circumcision would be 3,000 baht but he is only getting partial circumcision done to make hygiene easier.

had a good laugh from this thread; yes, when we talk among ourselves, things seem so obvious; try talking about penis art or beads with your average farang woman who hasnt a clue........ :o which is why this forum is good: we can compare notes about things that others wouldnt even have a clue about understanding...

on the other hand, pierced teeth (a fad here a year ago) seemed really bizarre....

btw, in israel circumcision is free; u just 'donate' to the mohel (it used to be about three trays of eggs -- about 32 eggs to a tray)... definitely do it with a jewish or muslim guy, they' re experts...

husband's comment to all this was 'tamada'...

OT but on topic of those darn beads:

issan guys do the bead thing also; a past thai 'friend' had three put in and would also grind down glass from bottles and sand them into smooth beads. they insert them while drunk. he used a exacto blade to make the incisions. he washed it all in cheap vodka and then used eye ointment as a local antibiotic on the cuts with the beads. he made the beads himself after hours and days of grinding cola bottle glass down. he also took his out while drunk before he returned to thailand to his wife (he left her to come work here in israel when he was beadless so would be hard pressed to explain why he put them in since it is known that put them in for the woman's pleasure. i can assure u , it didnt increase mine, just was sort of annoying where one of them was located so it 'hit' me and cause minor irritations to me.

he did say that certain types of beads from certain types of glass were 'no good' or 'caused cancer'... i think this is a thai urban myth, i am inclined to think it just causes scar tissue which causes irritation or internal bacterial infections under the lesion therefore creating other problems. too bad i never photoe'd the thing before and after. he was stuck with some scarring where the beads were removed. that seemed to 'stick' a bit, like scarring that glues itself to deeper tissue.

the beads btw are inserted just under the first layer of skin so they slither around a bit... but some do get 'stuck' and apparently cause problems.

anyway, meme, here in israel there are adult men that went thru circumcision (late life conversion to judaism and yet to be circumcised) and they make it thru, a week or so, with pain killers and careful cleaning and he's as good as new.

just remembered that present issaan husband had put one in when he met me and thru pressure from the other thai guys that all did it in a fit of 'brotherly love (drunkenness) and peer pressure to be one of the guys' , but promptly removed it one day in the shower w/o being drunk when we argued about it being a stupid thing that doesnt give me any pleasure, just annoyance. he went in to the shower, took his wood carving blade (a small one), put it thru a candle fire, and then slit it out. no sex for four days until the skin healed and that was that...

What the Flaming F!

Was this guy's name Rambo?!

And No sex for 4 days.... heck I go without sex for months, "just cuz." Man I am missing out!

Bina's post explains it all.

My husband does not drink, does not hang out with drinkers. So, perhaps there are men here who do this, but he wouldn't know about it. Have to say tho, you'd think he'd at least have heard of a penis guy :o

Drunken comraderie focused on the pecker, beads in the shaft, cutting the end to resemble a flower, village head penis guy...this thread ranks as one of the most bizarre I've ever read on TV. :o

When you hit about 50 yrs. old, you think you've seen/done it all. Thanks for jerking me back to reality...

The reality is: genital mutilation comes in many different guises across different cultures. And when we can't come up with a religious/tribal reason for it that we can accept, we invent a pseudo-scientific justification.

Sorry, can't stop laughing - not about meme's husband. But about the penis guy - which flower do they think it represents? Certainly not one i am familiar with...

Sounds like a problem with a tight foreskin. I do not know about Phimosis but I do know a little about Balinitis. I had a tight foreskin that prevented thorough cleaning under the skin and around the head that lead to a condition called Balinitis. The only answer was circumcision while I was in my early 20's and I have never had any problems since. Just as much fun after the op so do not worry on that score. So, if your husband has a medical problem and circumcision is necessary just do it!

Ive had a tight foreskin all my life and it just got worst and worst, i mean really tight, the head never came out of the foreskin or shall we say could not, and when i went for a wee i had to go really really slow otherwisw the wee would come back under my foreskin as my foreskin was almost closed up only a pinprick hole at the end

Im 36 years old now and for say the last 4 years its been getting infected really easy yest infections etc through not being albe to clean it good

Plus when having sex it would split easy causing pain and a lot of blood

so in june last year i had a circumcision in london done, i did go to the pattaya/bangkok hospital and they wanted 30k for the opp but i had it done in london and it cost 500 pound so about the same as thailand

the opp took about 1 hour and 30 minutes and afterwards it hurt for about a week then was a little bit painfull after that but within say 3 weeks i was walking ok again lol

Now looking back i wish i had it done years ago no more problems great

take my advise have it done now

I am not so sure I'd really like to see that Rue....... well, go ahead, you only live once... or twice if you believe in reincarnation :D

All jokes aside, good luck to your husband and good luck to you, meme, I suspect you are going to need it :D

I'm with toptuan, this is about the most bizarre, but fascinating, subject I think I've read on TV.

I've been 'fortunate' enough to have had 2 friends who told me about late circumcisions. One, who was 28 at the time, didn't elaborate thank heavens. The second, who was in his 20's, was recommended by a S American lady of the evening to do it. he went to sea at 14, and was the only Dutch guy that ever existed (I imagine) who didn't have a clue that smegma wasn't cool (I think smegma is the correct word). He was lucky it didn't drop off. The Dutch would have to be the cleanest people on earth.

TV taught me a new word -- phimosis. Sounds ghastly.

Thai guys 'comparing notes' and 'flowers' is quaint and vaguely weird. I guess it's nice that they aren't inhibited, unlike Aussies.

As someone else said, no one goes 'there' under any circumstances (unless it's to save it).

Uninformative post -- sorry -- just couldn't resist.

Luck with what? My month of abstinence? The biggest concern I have, next to everything turning out O.K. is the big baby I will be stuck with for the week following..He does not deal with pain or sickness very well! I would pass along all your well wishes to my husband but I think he is getting a little tired of me discusing this with everyone!

Monday is the big day!!

RueFang, you are not the first to ask for a picture but lord knows I am not about to be the one to take it!! :o

Sounds like you're volunteering to take flower photos of family friends?? Are you allowed to post them on this forum? Perhaps have to show me next coffee date!

I just want to second what Sheryl said. Phimosis is what they call it when the foreskin will not retract properly over the head of the penis. The issue it causes is recurrent infections that can become severe. There is simply no way to properly clean the penis, particularly around the base of the head, if the foreskin will not retract well. The tight foreskin traps smegma, urine, and anything else which is what causes the infections. There's always enough room for a few bacteria to sneak in and multiply.

My son's pediatrician, who did NOT do routine circumcisions, advised me that my day-old son needed to have a circumcision for this very issue.

Laughter aside, even though i am giggling in my corner.

I had a boyfriend who was 22 and had the shrunken foreskin syndrome and had to be circumsised - it went well and after a month he was ok to have sex and he felt good and so did i. He probably had the problen that you are talking about.

And he did send me photos..................

never again will i be able to hear the term "shrinking violet" with a straight face.

Yeah MeMe how is hubby's wee wee?!

hahaha yes how selfish of me to not give an update!

Well it was over in 20 minutes. And I was overall impressed at how well he was handling the whole thing as not only is he a stereotypical man when it comes to pain but he also can't see blood or needles!

Then can the time to take off the bandage, he almost fainted broke out it a cold sweat! It was kind of gross to look at first with all the stiches and blood. But now that it is healing well the weirdest part is and has been the whole thing about knowing what someone looks like for 4 years and then all of a sudden something doesn't really belong...

And I know the real question is flower or no flower??

Nope, no flower (Thank god!)
