Please Can Someone Translate My Name Into Thai Fon

Featured Replies

hello,

I want to make a new tatoo soon but I have to translate my name in thai font ( Djilali ), can someone help me.

thanks a lot !

I guess you would write it:

จิลาลิ - this would have the 'i' at the end pronounced short / high tone... might sound a bit unnatural, but very Thai.

จิลาลี - this is with a long 'i' sound at the end is long with a common tone

If you wanted it to be pronounced with a similar rhythm to what I suspect it is supposed to sound like, you could write it like

จิลาหลิ

While sounding good, many Thais would probably find this awkward looking.

Try the three with friends and see which one you / they prefer.

agree with Jay Jay. would have to comment however that all of 'em look a bit weird to me (being a non-Thai name) :-P

จิลาลี

Gets my vote - although this example seems to have a variety of acceptable permutations.

It may be a helpful if OP suppies a more phonetic version of the name rather than correct spelling because the "dj" sound - I'm not sure I'm saying it correctly to myself.

eg "djee la lee" or "dji lah li" or as above "ji lah lee".

Cheers,

Soundman. :o

Hi! I am new here. My name is Lavinia. How do I translate my name in thai?

From one of the baby naming sites on the Internet comes: "Lavinia [is]. . . a Latin name. This name means: In classical mythology, Lavinia was the daughter of King Latinus and the wife of Trojan hero Aeneas, who named the city Lavinium in her honour. Suitable only for girls. . ."

Another site says that the name's Latin orgin means "purify" or "purity." Let's go with that and see if there are Thai female names that might comport to that meaning. Lexitron shows "purity [N] ความบริสุทธิ์ " but I have nevery heard of a girl named บริสุทธิ. Well, let's try a similar idea. How about, "สด [V] be fresh; be green or to be live". I know of a woman named "สดใส". Here is Lexitron on "สดใส"

สดใส [V] be cheerful; be happy; be delighted; be joyful; be delightful. That's a lovely name!

Here is the transliteration: sòt săi or sohtL saiR or sòt sǎy (depending on which transliteration scheme you prefer.)

Thank you David for the meaning of the name. Agree สดใส is a great name.

However, I am wondering if Lavinia actually wanted to know how to write 'Lavinia' in Thai script (transliterate/transcribe, not translate)?

Try this if you were looking for the spelling of your name in Thai.

ลาวิเนีย - lah vi nia
