Is there anywhere in Thailand that one of my two boys(12 years old) can learn ballet?

I personally think he's a woose and am against it but it his wish.

Additionally, would this be good for him? I think it would help if he takes up martial arts or gymnastics or dancing.

Maybe he's just after the tasty girls :o

I can't help you, but if you haven't seen it, I strongly recommend the movie Billy Elliot which deals with this subject.

It is an excellent, British made movie, and was nominated for Oscars.

It has recently been resurrected as a smash hit stage musical.

I am having problems finding dance schools in Phuket too.

Please update us if you found any.

And if there isnt ballet, may I suggest Salsa or Latin dancing for the boy? Or at least the whole family? It helps if the family can be involved. Dancing trains co-ordination, focus & is a good form of not so agressive exercise for the young and old.

Plus, Salsa, latin dancing is actually a macho sport, you just have to dance it to realise it.

Google Mikhail Baryshnikov before condemning your son to wussiness. :o

Ballet is a very rigorous sport --much more disciplined than a lot of other sports, IME.

there is a dance school in the times square building, 8th or 9th floor if i remember correctly, on sukhumvit rd bkk, opposite robinsons at asoke.

dont know if they do ballet or not, but may be able to point you in the right direction.

And if really there isnt ballet.

Is it possible that someone with ballet teacher contacts can bring in/persuade the teacher to hopefully come over and groom our young?

I did have a dream to do so, but does not have the capital or contacts.

Excellent soundtrack too if you like TRex.

My former Kung Fun Sufi did ballet - I wouldn't call him a wuss.

I am looking for a Taekwando or Kung <deleted> teacher for my elder daughter(better than having her pose for Baby Elle magazine - maybe?).

Billy Elliott is one of my all-time favorite movies.

Ballet classes are frequently taken by male professional sports players, to improve their balance, coordination, and flexibility. And a professional male ballet dancer is no wuss, what with the lifting the ballerina over his head and stuff. Those ballerinas may be relatively small, but they are all muscle and muscle weighs more than fat.
