Due to the lack of good music in Samui I would like with the help of others in the community to promote a Rock festival - perhaps initially for one night and then more often if it proves to be popular. We want young Thai rock bands and for that we will have to look outside Samui where the scene is moribund to say the least. Can anyone advise how we would go about getting these bands, how to contact them, whether we should go through an agency or not? We are not looking for big name bands (hopefully that may follow) but eager young alternative ORIGINAL bands (no covers) who would like a weekend in Samui, expenses paid with exposure to an international audience. If anyone has experience on the Thai music scene and could advise/help, that would be gratefully received.

I will pass this on to my wifes cousin who is a writer and musician on the Bangkok scene and who probably knows loads of people and PM you. Do you have a prospective date in mind?

no date yet...need to cost the whole thing and see what the bands' demands are...hopefully not too much!!!...then will go about getting sponsors etc. Thanks for the help.
