Yes you can buy and own a condo under a foreign name - A newer condominium complex falls under the 49% Foreign ownership law - which allows only 49% of the total units can be owned in a foreign name. The money must be wired from overseas to a local bank here in Thailand - this way you can get a printout from the Bank stating that this money did come from overseas for the purpose of buying a condo. With prices of condos/properties going up and up and up... I believe you're about 10 years too late to buy a condo for 500K or under especially in Bangkok. Good luck

The last comment about price is certainly right. I've just bought a 28sq meter condo (if you can call it that) for 750,000 baht in the outer suburbs, and there are not many around at that price.
