What Visa To Get Tax Id?

Does anyone know what requirements there are to get a Thai Tax number and card? My friend is on a tourist visa and he wants or needs to start paying tax here, so that he can build up a good rep for future extensions (when he gets the right visa ofcourse).

Can anyone shed some light on what the exact requirements from the revenue dept are? Visa wise that is.

As far as I know, one cannot get a tax id unless they are legally working in thailand...which obviuosly needs a Non-Imm Visa and o'course a work permit.

What about paying tax on income from abroad?

If the income is remuneration for work you are doing in Thailand and you have work permit for it, then you get a tax ID and pay tax in Thailand.
