Snap Kuala Lumpur Embassy Report

Featured Replies

Just a quick report of information re the Thai embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is located on 206 Jalan Ampang Road; about 5 minutes from the city center (Petronas Towers) area and an MR 8-10 taxi fare. Visa section hours are 9:30-11:30 for applications and 11:30-12:30 (next day) for pick-ups. The gates open at 9:00 and you can arrive early (highly recommended) to pick-up and application and fill it out. Doors to office open at 9:30 and there is air-con seating area. You will be given a numbered ticket as you enter the door.

The staff are quite friendly and helpful as embassies go...seem NOT to get a delight in denying visas like seems to be the case at other embassies and consulates. They seemed to be quite easy with tourist visas (single entry albiet) notwithstanding how many prior ones you may have (at least with a First World country passport). I managed to swing a single entry non-imm O visa due to my special circumstances. Many teachers and business people there with loads of corporate paperwork (binders full in some cases) applying for their business visas/extensions.

All in all, not a bad experience (1st time for me here).

Thanks for the report Jonnie :o

Last time I was in KL was a couple of years back, it wasn't busy and I got a multi-o (married, took the wife with me) with no issues, seems to have tightened up a bit and gotten a whole lot busier, possibly due to Penang getting harder.
