Vernier Gauge Calipers

Featured Replies

Another request for help from me! I want to buy some vernier gauge calipers (I think that's the correct name), which have a digital readout and are used to measure the inside and outside diameters of pipes. (up to a few inches in diameter). I havn't seen them in hardware stores, so is there a specific Bangkok store which sells them?

Thanks

Simon

simon43. Loads of engineering tools around area of Chinatown weekend market, known as Yaowarat. Sorry cannot be more specific. Vernier Gauge is correct name. If you have trouble I have a Thai friend who has a hardware shop in Chumphae near Khon Kaen he could get for you and send. but don't forget to specify Digital, or you will get none digital.

Of course - Yarowat! I forgot about that area. I'll go and have a look next week. Thanks again!

BTW - What is vernier gauge calibre in Thai?? (It's not in my dictionary...)

and why do you want ones with a digital readout ? they not necessarily more accurate.

If you tell them "Calipper" or "Calibre" nost of them understand what you talking about.

I never suggested that digital readout was more accurate :o I'm thinking about my bad eyesight :D

Vernier is the same in Thai, only pronounced Wer-nee-ah:

The calipers I have say Wer-nee-ah Loh-ha.

เวอร์เนียโลหะ in Thai

I have an extra set of digital read out that are rather new. I prefer the old manual style so if your interested in purchasing PM me.
