Some more from my garden.

The first two look great, lovely composition, framing and colours. you really do seem to have an eye and a knack for this type of photography.

The 3rd one seems to me rather lacking in contrast. Also, the exposure has lost a lot of the detail.

Red does not record well in digital if not addressed properly. (similar to the blue problem in film).

You might want to read up on this if red is to be featured a lot.

Just my opinion though.

Thanks for the encouragement, I can assure you that the majority of shots are good fortune I think that professional ability.

I am putting these 3 shots up below to show that most of my 'red' shots come out like this (I know the rules are to start a new thread and no more than 2 pics, but do not want to start up a new thread when on the same subject)

Your edited version while improving the red in the subject, takes away from the grenn in the back ground as I also like the vivid green.

How do you set the shot up within the camera to improve a 'red' shot and will 'ALL' red featured photos turn out like this ??

Take your point about the green adjustment. It was just a quick example and would be easy to mask of the green and retain it.

However;

I'm not competent enough to scientifically explain the "red problem" other than that a few years ago I read about this and it did/does seem to be an issue.

I address the matter with software rather than in-camera settings. I have a few pre-sets I use when red is the dominate colour. The luminosity of red seems to be the real problem, and my pre-sets are set accordingly.

Maybe this is the route you could take.

Could you not make two shots?

One with the flower sharp and crisp and the other with the green leaves sharp.

Adjust the green and red and then merge them in some way?

Or close the aperture a little to get better depth of field?
