Burping The Baby

Featured Replies

In the last month or so our daughter (now 6 months) has obviously increased her feed intake (cereal for breakfast, some fruit and formula for the rest) as she now reads 8.2kg but she will not burp or wind as she once did. before it was easy after each feed but now its down to perhaps 50% of the time and though she does not sem affected by it, I have minor concerns (1st time parent with zero prior experience). Is this normal ?

Its okay, remember when using a bottle teat, baby is gulping down air too.

Now she's eating solids - probably eating slower, it makes sense that not so much air is being taken in. Hence not so much comes out !

I would still do the burping ritual until you are certain that there ain't no air inside...the usual pacing about with package draped over your shoulder. Infants also get use to it as part of a feeding routine...if you get kept awake at night without the previous comforting splash of vomit on yer shoulder you know what I mean...

we never burp my son anymore, just sit him upright after a feed in his walker or on the floor & usually a nice big one will come out but not always so imo unless she is crying after feed then don't worry, her intestines/stomach have matured now & 6month olds are able to self wind or not, like adults. :o

Just fed her and she let out a little one and now she's back in her cot, hopefully to sleep for a while more. I've been up all night working so I'll appreciate all the sleep she gives me.

thanks for your comments.
