Nope, that ain't true at all for a farang, though it's what many a Thailand-besotted newbie with little cash wants to hear.

But if you've already succeeded elsewhere, then you will be more likely to succeed here. Best advice: don't try to come and live in Thailand if you haven't already done well and if you're not already happy enough.
